Checking in from South West PA! I'm a newbie to the passion. I have a good friend who does reenactments for the French and Indian war. My wife and I have been to a few reenactments and have enjoyed ourselves immensely. Through my friend and watching the lifestyle and how much they enjoy it have decided to jump into flintlocking (is that a word?) with both feet.

I admit I don't have much to offer as I am hear to learn. Looking forward to some great discussion. I've started with a Lyman deerstalker and after spending some time at the range can already tell this will probably end up be a very addictive hobby. Anyways, thanks for the add and Happy New year to you all!

Welcome to the dark side.
Like you, I came from the fast shooting high speed long range world. (Your username speaks volumes)
Black Powder has slowed me down and taught me to enjoy more.

Welcome & Happy New Year from Harpers Ferry, WV. Grew up in Cumberland Valley (Bedford County) not far from you. I too am new, and was Griz44Mag said I can attest. I was hesitant to ask newbie questions, but stepped out and got so much help from so many. They were eager to share & give me valuable advise. Now, I feel I can at least put a pate/ball in the barrel. Waiting on my Deerslayer to arrive this Wed (my first cap gun). Blessings & keep us posted

Welcome to the Forum. You have come to the right place, and we are glad to have you here.

You are right at home for the French and Indian War.
