The stock on my tc cracked in front of the lock. Although I made a seemingly suitable repair, I’m going to order a replacement from TOTW. I’ve done some reading but can’t really tell if ones better than the other as far as strength and workability. I would like to build a kit rifle eventually and this seems like a way to get my feet wet. I also can’t stand having my stock cracked when a replacement is readily available. Your opinions are appreciated.

Squeeze some wood glue into the crack, clamp and allow to cure. Clean the excess glue from the finish with your fingernail and go back to shooting. If it is a hairline crack, use warmed superglue instead, though it is a little more difficult to clean excess from the finish.

Honestly, with an inexpensive gun such as a TC, it's more cost-effective to fix rather than replace...

I did that. I also installed two pins from the top of the stock and glued those in place. I believe it’ll hold I just wanted to do it “just cause”. I’d still like to know everyone’s preference on the wood. The rifles not going anywhere so I would still like to do it to make it fit me better

Then you decide....

Maple is harder, slightly more brittle, doesnt dent or scratch as easy, walnut is softer, takes oil better, in my opinion, but dents and scratches easier
