Intro from Wisconsin

hello to Everyone,

First off, I’m 67, not 44. Somehow, this site plugged in it’s own choice for my birthdate. But, no big deal.
I’ve built my first muzzle loader back about 1974, a .45 Kentucky Long Rifle. I’ve hunted with it now for over 40 years, deer and black bear. Two seasons ago, I was given an unassembled .50 cal. Plains Hunter that I built and hunted with the last 2 seasons. Although I’ve been shooting traditional muzzle loaders since 1974, I just discovered this site about a week ago. Seems like a great site. I want to give a big thanks to all members who contribute to our knowledge base and fun. Hopefully I’ll get to know some of you.
Besides hunting, I camp while hunting, usually in December. Strangely, I can never get any one to join me.

Hey Wisconsin Relic!
I too am a relic from Wisconsin, far south now, but from central Wisconsin originally.
Good to see more and more Wisconsin people are joining the forum recently...…!

I am on a very recently started quest of sorts to bring some Wisconsin history to a few other people, and if I can find anything that may interest my fellow Wisconsin muzzleloaders here, I will post it on this forum also.

Thanks for saying howdy. I’ve only lived in Wisconsin 28 years. Before that was 10 years in the Black Hills of South Dakota, started out in Michigan’s UP. Western history is what I really enjoy. I’ve visited some many western historical sites and ream reams of history books and journals about the West. But, I digress.
I’ve been hunting with traditional muzzle loaders since I built one about 1975. I really enjoy winter camping & snowshoeing through the hinterlands on northern Wisconsin and the UP in winter. I’m not a true, period correct trekker, but try to spend a lot of Woods time it’s my smoke poles. The last 3 deer seasons, I set up my solo camp 7 miles in from the nearest highway and NO phone service. GASP! Most of my friends are horrified and think I’m insane. But I’m totally content to listen to the wolves and hunt deer alone.

I’d love to hear some of your history.
