How about some Horseradish?

Took my horseradish out of the fridge....diced some and put into the food dehydrator....sliced and pickled some....nibbled on some....and planted the rest....

I think I'll powder some when dried....anybody want to snort it... :haha:

That should clear the sinuses.

My Suisse grandmother used to have a teaspoon of horse radish every morning when she got up before she did anything else.

I do indeed like horse radish and a good whiff of it does help with plugged sinuses, but I am standing clear of that horse radish dust.
 
I once ground up some Ghost peppers and made the mistake of smelling it when I removed the blender lid.... :shocked2: ........I won't be doing that again... :haha:

I imagine that's what removing your helmet in space would be like....
 
I made the mistake of trying the hottest stuff one of the local Mexican food places had. Not even a drop ... the Mrs. was sure I needed to go to the Emergency Room and frankly she may have been right. It was a painful twenty four hours. No launch vehicle needed was a spoon.

My nephew and his wife made Hot pepper jelly with it last year and afterword's went to bed amorous.

She spent the rest of the night in the tub in cold water!!! They fessed up at a family dinner at their daughters home that summer. Great laugh for all the family!!!!
 
So, I sliced some horseradish and diced some horseradish and put them in the food dehydrator...

I dries quite nicely...

I took a dried slice and ground it in my motor and pestle with some sugar. Then added some water and made a nice sauce....Then I added some vinegar and killed the heat... :doh:

Other than that it worked out nicely.
 
One of two small jelly jars of horseradish I ground today. I added a bit of salt, sugar and vinegar. Wow was the smell strong when I took the lid off the processor.

My eyes didn't burn while it was being ground in the food processor because of the lid. My eyes did run when I took a sniff. It was really strong, but good.
 
One of my memories of my grandfather was harvesting HR. We had a huge wild patch, about a 100 ft square on our family farm located in some rough/rocky ground. It was very hot stuff, dynamite. He told me it was there when the place was homesteaded, a wild patch that he would fertilize with manure every other year or so. In the fall, 60+ years ago, he and I would dig up two or three gunnysacks of roots, grab our fishing poles and head up to the lake. We’d tie the sacks off our dock and let the waves clean the roots while we fished till mid-afternoon. Then, back home to grind it up with a old sausage grinder, outdoors and upwind. I got to crank till I ran out of steam, usually not very long since I was a little kid. The fresh ground HR went into pint mason jars with a little salt and vinegar, if I remember right. What I do really remember is my grandfather sitting at the kitchen table eating it on saltine crackers, tears running down his face, he absolutely loved the stuff. No one else in the family would touch it, especially us kids, it would’ve cooked our mouths. He also outlived everyone else by at least 10 years. Pretty sure it was the HR.
