Good evening folks. I just happened on this site and became an instant supporter. I am getting back into black powder after years of just playing with black powder cartridge rounds and got bored with it. I just finished up my first build. I put together a poor boy 45 flinter in cherry wood. I have a lot of flaws in it and did not know cherry was so dang hard to work with but am pleased for my first and not my last build. Hope to get around the forum and learn things that I don't know and short cuts you all may know. Thank you and look forward to speaking with you all.

Welcome from rural central Ohio here. I'm new to this forum as well. I'm learning a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to our forum my friend! We are honored to have ya aboard.

A lot of our members have decades of knowledge and experience. They’d be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have? We would also love to hear what you might want to share as well?

We also have a sub forum called, The Gun Builders Bench. I think you might be very interested in that area from what you stated in your introduction.

Again, welcome my friend and we look forward to hearing more from you in the very near future!

Respectfully, Cowboy

A few bad pictures of my build. 45 caliber, Colerain barrel, Siler lock and forged trigger guard and made my own trigger assembly. A few stress cracks and actual cracks in the cherry wood as I was going. I had a real hard time as the grain in cherry seems to go different ways throughout the entire stock. No sand paper used, I scrapped every bit with glass or steel. Also, no vent liner, drilled and coned only at sunrise position!

Wow! Very nice my friend. I envy your talent!!

It’s definitely a must that you share your rifle pics in The Gun Builders Bench area of our forum.

The other members would definitely get a kick out seeing your Poor Boy flintlock!!!

I Love it! We all Love pics too!!

Thank you for sharing my friend.

Respectfully, Cowboy

Welcome from another fellow Ohio guy. Gun isn't perfect, and neither are we, but I think it's a solid starting piece.

Thank you. I hope my next one will be better than this one. I plan on doing one in walnut, hoping to do a 40 cal in the next couple weeks, at least get started on it.

I wish I had more wood working skills. Very nice! I’m seeing a lot of very talented builders on this sight.

Welcome to the Forum. It's nice to see a fella who jumps right in.

That's an honest rifle! Don't go hiding it in the closet, it would have looked right at home on the frontier 1700s. I look forward to enjoying your journey here. There are folks here who have all the knowledge that you want, and are eager to share. Crewdawg would be a fine choice to keep in touch with. He is amazing.

Thanks Grumpa. I will do my best to get all the knowledge I can from the people that know more than I do. I love front stuffers and it is going to be my hobby for a long time I hope.
