I'm looking at getting a Lyman adjustable rear peep for my GPR and wondered what your guys thoughts were on that sight? I also am looking at getting a new front sight to go with it and wondered what you recommended? This will be used for hunting only. Thanks

I looked at that sight, it does look more natural on the gun. Do you know if it would fit a lyman GPR? I didn't see it on the list of guns it might fit

I've had a Lyman SML peep on my Cabela's 54 cal rifle for probably 5 or 6 years now. Never had any trouble with mine coming loose or anything. I've really liked having it (even though it is not the prettiest thing).

GREAT choice for target shooting, especially in competitions using a rest such as Bench, Table or Chunk shooting. That's what I have on my most serious target rifle, and love it. Might be a good choice for hunting too, "out West" but in S.E. Georgia, and Florida where I hunt....not so much. Low light, heavy cover and up-close-and-personal shots want more open sights that are easier to pick up.

My CVA is dovetailed both front and back, so I was thinking about trying the trijicon sights they make for the 1911 type pistols....just don’t want to spend near $100 to find out if they’ll work. Anyone else try them?

I should have added this to my earlier response:
For my "low-light-up-close" hunting rifle, I'm using "Fire Sights". Google that name and add: "for CVA" and you'll find several options available without having to spend $100.00.
The only potential downside I've identified is they appear to be more fragile than traditional sights. That said, a little care in handling and that's not been an issue.

AS MY VISION BEGAN TO FADE I INSTLLED LYMAN REAR APERTURE (PEEP) SIGHTS ON BOTH MY KIT BUILT T/C AND REPLICA HAWKENS.
YOUR EYE AUTOMATCALLY SEEKS THE MOST LIGHT AND THEREFORE CENTERS ON THE REAR SIGHT APERTURE. ALL YOU HAVE TO CONSIDER WHEN LOOKING THROUGH THE PEEP IS THE FRONT SIGHT AND THE TARGET.
I ALSO INSTALLED THE LYMAN GLOBE FRONT SIGHT WHICH NARROWED THINGS DOWN A BIT MORE.

I HAVE PREVIOSLY MENTIONED THE GEMMER RIFLE ON DISPLAY AT A LOCAL MUSEIM AND I NOTED THAT IT HAD A REAR SIGHT ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE THE LYMAN REAR SIGT,
GEMMER WORKED FOR THE HAWKEN BROTHERS HERE IN ST. LOUIS AND WHEN THEY LEFT THE AREA GEMMER TOOK OVER THE BUSINESS.
AS FAR AS OLD TIMEYNESS, THE VERY FIRST REAR APERTURE SIGHT I EVER TOOK NOTICE OF WAS ON A MUSEUM CROSSBOW.

SOME COMPETITIONS DON;T ALLOW PEEP SIGHTS WHICH ACKNOWLEGES HOW EFFECTIVE THEY ARE..
I HAVE READ THAT IN THE 50 TO 100 YARD RANGES THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MORE ACCURATE THAN SCOPES. THAT I CAN'T SWEAR TO.
WHEN YOU THINK YOUR OLD EYES ARE RUING YOUR GROUPS, I CAN THINK OF NOTHING BETTER THAN THAT REAR PEEP SIGHT MY LYMAN. ITS CATALOG NUMBER IS ML57/

MY M1 GARAND RIFLE HAD A REAR APERTURE PEEP SIGHT.
