Snapping matchlock

I have looked at your build thread several times and am impressed all over again each time I look at it.

I have been watching shows about the pilgrims and early America on Youtube and so my interest in guns like this are high right now. You did a fantastic job on this build. Do you have more build threads I need to check out?

This build is a bit earlier (1520's)than the Pilgrim Fathers, but Matchlock all the same!
Since I posted this build, I finally finish'd the barrel.
Posting photos here isn't as easy for me as some sights, as I don't like using a photo hosting site, but will attempt to show you what it look like now.
I think I like it better finished!

The photos show it after cutting the chevrons and flutes, than after a bit of browning and ageing.
Last photo is the Original, circa 1525.

I do have other builds, but will link them for you, as I don't think any are on here. Will check though!

I have no idea where the scowl face came from.

The OP was set at having no face or symbol at all.

In the interest of having a face that is happy, I changed it.

It looks very much like the Mary Rose pattern musq't. I like it :thumbsup:

Yes, although it is earlier, C 1525, it has similarities so marked that I believe it and the "Mary Rose" guns came from the same shop. Same guard type, same trigger, with little acorn pattern. Same stock Style, But, the later "Mary Rose" has a shoulder stock and a longer, more modern barrel.
Do you know a certain M Taylor? He's from Sheffield originally, and has made a few Mary Rose types. He's been in NZ for many years now.
I never knew him when I still lived over there, but we both used to visit Bulmer's gun shop in Lord Mayor's Walk. (York)
A pal in Washington has one of Maurice' M-R snaplocks.(And he's originally from Grimsby! )
