The Bass Pro shop in Mesa, Arizona shows Barricade in a aerosol can @ $11.99 each.

I mention this because if it is available at one Bass Pro shop, it should be in the dealers catalog at all Bass Pro shops so, you local store should be able to order it for you.

Brownells is offering Barricade in a 4 1/2 ounce can for about $7.

I don't know what their postage is but that can will last you for years.

You don't pour the stuff onto the gun so it isn't like taking a oil can and giving it a couple of big squirts.
All it takes is one light coat of the stuff to do the job. You do this by dampening a patch and then wiping it on the metal, both inside the bore and on all the external surfaces.

After it is applied it will seem to evaporate but it is still protecting the surfaces.

That is one of the neat things about the product.
Because it seems to dry, it won't effect the powder charge the next time you load.
You don't have to wipe it out before loading.

It will not cause any hard fouling if you use this method.

Get some. You will be happy. :)

For years I have sealed the barrel channel and under the butt plate with either a varnish, shellac, or TruOil and then I would coat the under side of the metal barrel and even the brass butt plate (to prevent problems when the butt goes down into snow) with RIG gun grease. I personally have never had an issue with rust or the wood soaking up the grease in those areas, even after standing in pouring rain (when I can't find cover) !!

I'd recommend Ballistoil. I use the non-spray version on the wood, leather and metal of my two Brown Bess muskets. It's non-toxic, and good on all materials. It leaves behind a durable film and when I'm reenacting near the Atlantic ocean I see my fellow unit member's muskets rusting while mine does not. Easy cleanup. I keep it in a period correct (or very close) bottle, and use it exclusively at events (and at home) while describing it as "Sweet oil" to visitors. I don't often tout the praises of a particular product, but this is one that has won my praise.

Ballistol and black powder go together as a cleaning solution or lube. There are many other lubes and cleaners out there to choose from also great ideas here about sealing under a pinned barrel. I ordered 2 qts. of Ballistol from Midway, it serves me well on my BP guns. As far as stink, my dog smells sometimes but I still love him.
