I have a used Charleville coming. I got it with the bayonet, sling, and flash guard. The previous owner bought the musket in 1984. I think, since two muskets were sold, one a Jap Bess and the other the Charleville, that they were probably both Japanese in origin. The previous owner I don't think shot them much, as he was very enthusiastic about the CW. I'm looking forward to having another musket. It was listed as a 1763 version.

I have a Navy Arms Charleville that I bought a couple years ago. I believe that it is most likely made by Miroku.

Love it!

Have shot it at least a couple hundred times.

Paper cartridges. Only miss-fire is once I did not swab the barrel after it was in storage for a couple months.

I have been wanting to buy a used Miroku for years, but they seem to come up for sale about as often as Faberge Eggs.

Last Summer a local shop had an early Navy Arms ”˜Charly’ and it was indeed marked and made by Miroku.

... and like an idiot, I told myself that I didn’t need another caliber (I really don’t ...) so I passed on it ... even though I already had 3 other French arms from 1680 to 1740 ... duh, duh, DUM

I have had quite a few different folks of all ages, (mostly kids), shoot the Charleville. It is the favorite of all our firelocks...even...gasp!...the BB...by about five to one.

Nice! When I got my Brown Bess it was sort of a toss-up, and they seemed to come up for sale more often than the Charleville. I’ve been checking with Ackerman arms and Lodgewood Manufacturing on occasion. I believe the Charleville is slightly lighter than a Bess isn’t it?
