Why the "Skychief" load works?

So sorry to hear about your Mother. Hope I can kick this crud soon.

Going around in N AZ as well, I had it a week, kicked it with lethal overdoses of V-C. Wife had it over a month, son now has it :td:

Sorry to hear about your mother, it has been a proper epidemic here in the UK among the older generation my family got it in December and I am just getting over it, they say it is a 10 week
recovery .

Although more or lass over it, I still have seen no signs of Ambition returning! Snow again, so today's work cut out moving it.

Only minus 17 or so, so not so bad.

Tried your load this weekend in my fussil man what a difference from the standard loading procedure. Those patterns tightened up significantly.

So I have to work up a Turkey load in my 20 Bore Tulle..............is this right......powder- (1) card- shot - (1) card -olive oil felt wad ...?

OK...loaded up Skychiefs load before daylight. Hunted hard till about 2PM and the rain started. The only turkeys I heard this morning were in an adjacent state! Decided to give up on the turkeys today and go again at daybreak in the morning. Now, is it OK to leave it loaded overnight with that really oily fiber wad in it? I guess if not I can pull the load or shoot it and clean it huh?

Well I never had an issue. Keep it muzzle down if your worried.

Should I get caught in a rain I keep the muzzle down lock protected all that. I pull the change clean and oil. I often leave a gun loaded if dry.
It’s a lot easier to pull a shot load then a ball.

Keep her loaded riverrat.

I had mine loaded for "Mr.Dry-Shins" for weeks on end. Finally fired it off as the season ended. Went off quick and destroyed a distant tin can.

Keep us Northerners posted with some turkey hunting details. We will live vicariously until late April.

OK..hunted all day yesterday in and out of rain. No birds. Not going again until next Friday. I decided to pull the loads to see what kind of shape they were in.
The oil soaked fiber wad came out fine. On one side, it came out whole and the other side it came out in two halves.
The over shot card was next. It came out fine also.
The shot emptied right out.
The over powder card 1/8th inch came out next and intact from both sides.
Now, all of the above were coated ( slightly more than coated I'd say, with oil. The coating lessened as I got closer to the powder with the hard card having a nice coating of oil from the top to about 1/2 way thru or at least it was discolored in that manner.
The powder; dry as a bone As a matter of fact, I'll re-use it. It looks feels and shifts around as if it just came from the can. No problems at all after being loaded about three days in awful humid weather. Pretty much sold on this load.

I’d bet the rifling spread the shot away from the center also.
