I got this one today 12/13/17 About 15 minutes prior to dark. I watched him for about 15 minutes .
He was scenting a doe in heat lure I had hanging in tree. He came out very slowly at first. Then a bit more in a hurry lowering and raising his head trying to determine where the scent was coming from. I had my 50 cal original HATFIELD from the early 1990's loaded with 80 grains 3 F. He was roughly 50 yards . At the shot he rolled over a down tree , got up attempted to run but kept rolling over tumbling etc. He went about 25/30 yards and dropped. The ball 180 grain went through his left shoulder and into and out of the other shoulder on opposite side. First pass through I ever had in over 40 years . I watched this buck for about 2 weeks but could never get a clean shot at him. Tonight although cold it went according to plan. I was on the ground in real heavy cover . Thankfully it worked out better then I could have hoped for.
