25 days until our turkey season starts and I'm suffering...

It seems as if every other field that I pass has a strutting, lovesick gobbler or two in it.

I'm sure some of these sightings are true. Others may be a manifestation of my daydreaming. :haha:

My name is Skychief and I am a 'black powder turkey-aholic'!

C'mon April 27th. :slap:

Goba goba gobble, Skychief

Rushing your life away. Anticipation is a big part of the thrill. :haha:

Take a deep breath and think about this...when you shoot that bird on the first day, then it will be a whole year before you can hunt turkeys. Looking at it that way, 25 days isn't so bad.

Looking forward to your hunt. You set the bar very high.

I'm jealous... good luck! My chances at a bird this year have literally flown out the window due to multiple surgery procedures... One more to go! Anywho, good luck! Hope a good harvest comes your way.

I know how you feel. :metoo:
Last fall, I found a roosting area that is so heavily used that you can't walk thru without stepping on droppings. There are a few trees that you have a hard time even seeing the ground under them because it's so covered with turkey droppings! :shocked2: I planned to be in that area before daylight on opening morning with my T/C New Englander 12 ga.

But.... I type this left handed only, sitting here in my recliner with my right arm in a sling because of surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, a bicep tendon re-attachment & arthritis clean up. I've been told that I'm not even supposed to try to pick up a coffee cup with my right hand for 6-8 more weeks. :(
I've thought about trying to go at it carrying & shooting left handed only, but there's too much chance of having something happen to re-injure myself, so I've given up the idea for this year.
:surrender:

Sorry to hear it Bald Mtn Man.

These situations remind me of a few years ago when I had knee surgery the morning of our turkey opener. :slap: :shake:

Hang in their and good luck with your rehabilitation, Skychief

Find a kid and make him kill it! Hardest thing to do is teach them lil video game playing boogers how to remain still.

Here in AZ youth can buy a license for $5.00 and an over the conter tag for $10.00 and hunt a week earlier than anyone else. When I dont have a tag I nab a kid and take em out. No score yet but some real good times, a big ol tom had a close call and was near scalped 2 years ago as the boy (his foot shaking so fast I couldnt see the laces) put a load RIGHT over his head at 25 yds. Kids hooked-GOOD n HOOKED.

I too have a tag this year and had hoped to take my newest shot gun, a dbl 20, out but have had ZERO time to develop a load. I will take the CVA Gobbler though, its been turkeyized and proven!

4 more long days......... :shake:

The whippersnappers are enjoying the first day of the youth season here.

A couple of my friend's sons have had good mornings.

C'mon Wednesday!
