What's the current going rate for a blue model Ruger Old Army in pristine shape?
I know of one the guy wants $500.00 for and think that may be a descent price for one in like new condition. What do yah think?

They seem to really go up and down. I have one in good shape but not perfect but still a 90% + gun....with a conversion cylinder. I started at $700 and went all the way down to $450 because I wanted to fund another gun. Put it back in safe to stay. $500 is a good price...I paid $475 for mine without the conversion cylinder. Lets put if this way....you won't be sorry you own one.

I picked up a stainless one with 2 cylinders for $225 about 15 years ago. Out of the way hole in the wall with only newer stuff. Every once in a while you just get lucky! The old army really is about the best there is. On Gun Broker, between $450 and up depending on condition.

I have been buying ROA revolvers for the past 6 years. I was at the Kingman, Az gun show last weekend and bought my 10th ROA.
It is new unfired 7.5" Blue Non-Adj. sights. It came with a new unfired Howell .45 Colt Conv. Cylinder. I paid $675 for the set. The Non-Adj. Mdles are more expensive than the Adj sight Mdls. The Howell Conv. runs about $300 bucks so the ROA was about $375. These guns normally run around $600 alone. My average for the SS Mdls with Adj. sights used is around $400 dollars. The polished SS 5.5" Mdls are over $1,000.

I bought an unfired stainless 7 1/2" for $330 with no cylinder and no grips. I am glad I bought it. 4 months ago I got a blue 7 1/2" in fair to good condition for $350 at a pawn shop.

You just have to look and look and look ... and have cash money in your pocket when you find one.

Let me start out by saying I don't have one. Been scared to buy one since there are no longer replacement parts for them, unless you buy a couple and use one for parts. Shouldn't the price reflect that or are people buying them for collectables. I understand they are a great gun. I see them around gun shows from 3-500 bucks. Right now I can pass on them unless I see a great bargain.

The ROA is the pistol of choice for line shooters.

If a person buys a loading stand from Powder Inc. or Tower of Power and uses it to load the cylinder you will not damage the pistol and will not need replacement parts. The pistol is about damage proof that there is if you remove stupid.

I would think that your price range is fair.

As stated before I had mine crack at the trigger guard and this with ZERO abuse. The repaired (replaced frame?) and gave me a free extra cylinder. This was like 20 yrs ago tho.

I had no idea what the heck happened, was pig hunting and seeing no pigs started trying to collect a bunny dinner. When after 4 shots between 10-20 yards I was still looking at spam I cleaned it well and examined it and found the crack, had to look close. Got back and sighted in again and good as new. I believe I will take yer advise tho and get a loading stand, Make me cry if it busted again (especially for price of a loading stand!).

Most line shooters all use a loading stand from the places mentioned, a loading stand is worth it's price.

I put the ROA at the top of the list of BP revolvers followed by the Remington 58.
If I could buy ROA's in the $300 range I would get all I could find if they are in great shape.
When the price gets to $400, it begins to get to my personal upper limit, even Bill Gates has a budget.
