Is it not cricket to have a Craftsman toolbox as a shooter's

It is not Cricket at all, where I come from it would be considered to reflect on ones standing in IQ and abilities , how ever since you are not here and do not play cricket , it should not cast a shadow on you in your community .

Everyone else has a wooden box or chest of some kind. My Craftsman tool chest cost $49.95 on sale. It has room for everything and it really helps keep things organized.

I wouldn't worry about it. Whatever works for you is fine. I don't know why anyone would think they'd need to feel they'd have to offer an opinion on your choice of material, what you use is really no one's business. Now, as for the possibility of eventually building your own shooter's box from wood to better organize what your box contains, that's always a good idea.

I have several shooter's boxes but I seldom ever use them except for carrying extra shooting supplies and gunsmith tools should my shooter's bag need restocked while at a shoot, or a possible repair needed.

Use what works for you. I pretty much prefer loading from the bag and have enjoyed that route for a very long time, but my shooter's box is always available in my vehicle or tent, if needed. :thumbsup:

And next in line, been doing this a bit and have never owned a box. I guess that's why I don't take much notice of folks using a box in a non historic setting. I do find most all I need is in the bag. Although in all honesty I have bowered before, but it's been rare.

That's it in a nutshell...
Some guys take a more traditional approach to their shooting and some take a more modern approach to their shooting....
Nothing wrong with either one.....they are just two different approaches and cannot be compared to each other because one is an apple and one is an orange...

If they're like me and simply want to shoot/hunt with the flint/cap muzzleloaders they own, then it really doesn't matter a frog's hair what anyone else thinks. I shoot to enjoy my guns; not to please busybodies.

Were big "range boxes" ever items which have historical roots? If they are just a modern development then it would be hard to copy an original.

Its a modern movement to have all that "necessary" stuff with us. If you had to carry it yourself or on a horse, you would limit your range supplies to what you had in your shooting bag.

The guys that don't mess around and really have their "range boxes " down pat, are those C.A.S. shooters and their gun carts. They combine style and pure function.
