Along w sight blockage I clip the false muzzle to the bench so I can't move rifle from load to shooting position without removal
 
The only experience I have had with one is when one of our members shot his false muzzle down range, never to be found :haha: He had only shot the rifle about 4 times. If you have not yet read it, look for Ned Roberts The Muzzleloading Cap Lock Rifle. A great source of info on that type of rifle.
I was visiting in Austin TX. a few weeks ago and found a copy of that Ned Roberts book at a "Half Price Books" store. I almost passed on it but now that I'm into learning about the use of the False Muzzle I'm very glad I went ahead and picked it up it's been very interesting...
