After a (very) long Hiatus from the World of Percussion, I am fixin' to get back into it, and am rounding up supplies. What (Cap size) Nipple does the Uberti '51 Navy come with?

Eric

Mine works with CCI #10 just fine.
There are minor size differences with different manufacturers, Remington, CCI, Winchester, Dynamite Nobel,,
But generally #10 caps work with Revolvers

After some decades of dealing with Uberti and more recently Pietta, I've concluded that nobody knows for sure which caps to use for either manufacture revolver - it's apparent that Neither Uberti nor Pietta know for certain either, since sometimes #10's work, other revolvers seem to be equipped to fit #11's best. I've had a most recent Uberti with fit for 3 of each: #10 and #11.

It's best to just pull out your factory hit and miss fit nipples, and install a set of quality made Treso/Ampco nipples. They're made for #11's and all mine work just fine with both CCI and Remington caps.

I've even had one particular revolver that wouldn't even fire with the factory nipples - a set of Treso/Ampco's were just enough longer that the hammer actually hit the seated cap instead of just hitting the frame without reaching the cap face.

Good to know - Thanx. I guess that's what nipple wrenches are for - If I can remember where I put them. Been a very long time since I shot anything with a cap.....

Mate,
have found much the same thing myself, we used to use R&WS caps from the tin with the Red label, they had shorter skirts. Have used CCI no 10 awhile ago, but have found the Remington No 11 seem to fit all my old cap and balls best. Have just ordered a new Uberti cylinder for my london colt so I can hopefully fit in the new slix nipples. All my pistols are from the very early 70s to 85 and all have the same thread size. Guess it is trial and error for all of us to see what works best in our individual pistols/.

Cheers
