Help with a "green horn"

I have 4 goat horns that were cut off goats about 6 weeks ago. I have dryad them in the sun under the glass of an old car windshield. I can not break the bone free from the inside of the horn. Any ideas?

Try a search here if you know how too, I never have much luck with it. Someone told me the secret once before of how to enter it correctly so it would function, but I've slept since then... :shake:

I think I remember a discussion on here a few months back and it seems like boiling was the answer to remove the core. :idunno:
D 50 types faster than me too. :redface:

Never did goat horn but with cow horns I drill a pilot hole in the core and screw in a good size screw eye or hook. Boil the horn 30 to 45 min. Fasten the eye to sometng solid and pull the core If it does'nt pull out boil it some more. Gloves are a good idea!!!

Thanks guys. I'll try to boil it. This is my first try at goat horn. With cow hord I have dryed it in the sun and it pops right. Goat dont do that. Again thank you guys.

I got one horn clean out. I put the horn in the dashboard of an old van and let the sun dry it out. Then I drilled a large hole in the center of the horn done. I took a hack-saw blade and cut groves in the bone too the hard shell of the horn. I then taped little wedges between the bone and the horn shell to separate the two. I placed the horn back in the old van dashboard and let the sun dry it out some more. The center of the horn just popped out. :v

while goat and cow are different worlds, I do believe the same rules apply. breaking down the membrane to remove the core. soundsa like you've done everything right so far, the only idea I could add is just cut it down a little bit further to allow better separation from core/horn. just a thought!
