It's $65 per pound across the ditch in NZ for goex and if you can find it $60 per kg for thundershot. Chinese. The main importer here has run out of that though. The price of goex does drop to $45 per pound if you nood, wink and twitch the right way at the right person . There is also acouple of blokes making it here as well. Quite good stuff and very similar to swiss. swiss is also avaliable for about $105 per kg. Caps run out about $100 / 1000.
About the same cost as us, but on the western side of the continent have have very limited choice, we take what we can get. Very limited supply because of low demand. Story of my life really.

No 2F goex here since the fire, picked up some KIK 2F for $19 pound, high but you got to make smoke.

Funny thing. I logged onto the forum just now, specificaly too vent and gripe about what I just paided for a pound of Goex today and I saw this thread first one.
Must be a theme lately.

Pound of Goex at the White Elephant in Spokane, WA as of this morning was $22.99

#10 Remington Caps were only $4.99 for a tin, so that was a bonus.

After reading all of the previous comments I feel very luck. I can drive about 10 minutes to the Gun Works Emporium here and buy all of the black I want. Goex for $19 and Swiss for $24 per pound.

I have recently purchased a large lot of Goex for $10/lb from a private party. A friend bought a 25 lb keg here today for $12 per pound

I was at the gun store this morning here in Ohio. While there I asked if they had any BP. They said they had some, I asked how much per pound, the answer they gave me I about choked, $35-$36, for Goex. I didn't come home with any. DANNY

Well, ya'll have it good. I picked a pound of 4ffff of Goex at Christmas at my Bass Pro. $40.00 dollars, but I had a gift card and it was the only thing worth buying at the time. I think next month when I order from PowderInc. I'll pick up a lb of 4ffff KIK with my order. That way I'll never have to buy 4ffff again.

The last time I bought powder was in 2011. I bought 1 lb. of GOEX 4f and 15 lbs. of 2f and 3f for $4 per lb.

It was a good deal and the seller and I both parted happy.

It was the older red and white can stuff: all unopened.

I bought a 25lb. mixed carton (10lbs. FFg and 15lbs. of FFFg) from Powder, Inc. last fall at a cost/lb. of $14.50, including shipping and Hazmat fees. I see that the same powders are listed at $14.90/lb now. Service was exceptionally pleasant and fast. Hurts to lay out a fairly large chunk of money but beats hell out of the prices I am seeing posted here. Black powder will store perfectly well for years under proper conditions. I will buy from Powder, Inc. again. baxter

i just picked up 10 pounds of KIK from powderinc for $171.00.

I just did the same thing. I've never used KIK before, but I've been searching and reading comments on numerous forums (some are using for black-powder cartridges) and 99% are extremely positive...some even saying it's comparable to Swiss (I wouldn't know). There are a few shooting test results out there and generally KIK is getting better velocities with as good or better accuracy than Goex. Also many reports of easier cleanup due to softer fowling. So figured I've give a "shot"...pardon the pun.

The closest black powder to me is 50 miles and is $29/lb + Wisconsin sales tax and I'd burn 4 gallons of gas...so add that. The $171.00 is completely delivered total cost so roughly 1/2 per pound.

Ordered a 25lb. of Goex. This was from Powder Inc. and was treated very nice by the Lady who took my order. She said they were waiting on the Truck from Goex and would ship as soon as possible. Price was $14.90 a Lb......

Best idea I got from this tread is to order in bulk container if you have a source, and refilling your old cans as needed.

Great way to cut the price per pound cost. :hatsoff:

I met a gentleman who was goin to the Winchester shoot a cpl years back and he brought me a five lb grocery bag of bulk powder, 3Fg. He said it wasn't blank powder, I think the bag was brand marked, not sure. I paid him $37.50, which was a steal as I had just bought some goex 2Fg for $15/lb. I also got a roll of musket caps.

Being the proverbial packrat, I had several powder containers in the shop. I simply used a marker and wrote size and date and I'm set for a spell.

The mixture of ingredients to make real black powder is pretty much the same so, no, one brand doesn't make more smoke than the other brands.

There are some minor differences in the charcoal used and these differences can create more or less fouling depending on which company made the powder.

One of the cleanest is Swiss powder and one of the dirtiest was made by Elephant powder, years ago.
