Well Cookie our doeling came back with a bad test result for an undesirable virus kind of figured since she was kind of a runt and did not convert food to mass well in the herd so she is going to be my first spit roasted whole animal. I will have to post something photo wise any advise besides have beer on the ready to supervise.

just curious, "an undesirable virus" don't know what it means or is but wonder, is the meat still ok to eat once cooked, guessing it must be as yer gonna roast her but was just wondering

One doe contracted Caprine Arthritic Encephalitus, generally a milk borne virus, but can spread other ways so I had to Heat treat the milk from positive does. This doe had gotten sucked back in during birth and inhailed birth fluids. Fine to Eat, most positve does are a symptmatic but I want to sell stock and find it unethical to sell positive animals. I am glad we can eat the meat. There are some conditions in animals I will not eat. Thank God I have not had to deal with worse or I have to have the carcass incinerated. The old joke does not play well anymore "how you get rid of a dead sheep or goat" answer 2 tires. How you get rid of 2 dead sheep or goats" 3 tires. The burning tire smell covers up the rancid animal smell. I smelled a burning tire once in college.

Goat on a stick yum......

thanks for finding the photo it was awesome I think the garlic olive oil and rosemary based rub was what does it. The carcass we simmered into broth and the meat that fell off was turned into "Itlian beef style" sandwiches. I will be doing this every Christmass If I can. I need to get a spit and motor I figure if I can find a junked Kitchen Aid they can be rebuilt for about 20.00 and a square shaft the diention of the PTO that would be awesome and variable speed. The mounting screws are heavy enough for the goat and lambs I just mounted it on a couple of Iron Fence Posts.

link no workee for me but I've had good spit roasted goat.
we cooked it in a hinged 55gal drum and sauced it last hour of roasting low heat.
dogs ate well that night.

low and slow with hickory smoke and the right marinade and or sauce would make a boot taste good.
