Awesome buck! Way to stay on him!! I like the way the Euro Mount came out. I have bunch all cleaned out, but not on placks. I just wire them and hang them as is.. How did you mount the skull to the plack? My boy took a nice Muley this year ( I posted it in the Non-ML topic section) and I would like to put it on a plack for him.

Thanks for any advice or pictures! JRM

If this dosnt make sence, remind me and Ill get you some picrures....
At the base of the skull there are some natural holes that allow a piece of wire to go "in and around"... Pick your plack, finish it, about two inches down from the top-center drill two holes about 1.5 inches apart for the wire to go through; From the back of the plack wire goes up, through the skull into the brain cavity, out the other hole FROM the brain cavity, back down through the other hole in the plack and then twist the lose ends tight - tightening the skull to the plack. takes very little tinsel strength to keep it in place....
Here is a pic showing a differant plack too, no pedistol, just hanging on the wall....

Nice buck.

How common are whitetails in Oregon?

We have a small smattering of "Columbia Whitetials" in south central and north central Wilamette Valley - Hardly huntable numbers but some draw tags are available; They tend to be smaller and quite shy. Kinda like Coues Deer on steriods. And we have the bigger Northern Whitetails down out of Canada thru Idaho and Washington... There is a pretty decent herd getting established in NE Oregon.
The mindless dill-holes we have at our ODF&W see them as a minior nusience as they favore the passanger piegon like mule deer but they are getting a toe hold despite the lack of care that could make them a SWEET addition to the Oregon hunting landscape...

Interesting, I'll admit I don't think of Oregon as a whitetail state.

Wattsy,Hey is that some type of game ear on tour right side.

LOL.... Forgot I even had it on; As stated this is day two with help waking the brush looking for Mr Difficult. You would THINK that the camera dude would have noticed that...

Wattsy, looking at your rifle, I see some kind of pattern on the buttstock. What is that?

I went to public skool and thus my creativity is sickly at best
I shallow-drilled those holes and connected them to a point with shallow-carved lines; Dont know what I was aiming for but it looks more like a comorah(sp)to me then not....?
Did a similar on the wrist and it actually looks 'better' if not a little like a 6 legged bug.
But like my mommay say, Im "special" and unique.

Do you have a pic you can post? From the angle, it kind of looks like lacing, as if on a cheek pad or something.
