Hello All,
Here is an original logrifle that I picked up recently. It has a 40'' 45cal hand rifled barrel, very nice curly maple stock (although refinished) and brass furniture (although polished). The rifle is in shootable condition with the drum re-drilled and tapped for a T/C #11 nipple. There is a faint "BF" or "BE" stamped on the top flat. I'm pretty sure the only thing that has been replaced on the rifle is the nipple and the front sight which used to be a piece of bone or ivory. Any comments would be appreciated.

I like it....a lot! Warning, however: There exist those on this forum who will tell you the rifle is not HC/PC because the barrel isn't longer, the wrist is too thick and on, and on.

You have a jewel; use it.

The barrel is not long enough and the wrist is too thick... Other than that, nice rifle!

Beautiful rifle. (I'm not even sure what HC/PC means)

How's that buttplate feel on the shoulder?

If you look at the picture close you will see the nipple is longer, that is High Cap (HC) and the PC well that stands for Percussion Cap. Really simple ya know.

:stir: :blah:

If you would care to have your leg put unstreached it is: Historically Correct/Period Correct.

Nice rifle by the way.

I always thought HC & PC were the two brothers who invented the Lancaster; Are their initials on the barrel? :hmm:

Hanshi, I like your thinkin' :rotf: garandman, It feels real good on the shoulder? And Ricky, I can't wait to shoot it. Just the thought that this rifle was used to put food on the table and feed someone's family will make it an honor to shoot and keep its heritage alive!
