    Investarm Hawken Nipple

It seems just as well you lost the original! Love my Lymans but they put junky nipples on them. I switched mine to Hot Shots and they work awesome. Chucked the orig. in a drill and filed it to a smaller dia. so the caps will seat all the way down, it was taking 2 hammer strikes. :cursing: WI Smoke

    Something bigger for hunting?

Have the matching Lymans GPR and Plains Pistol. They are both in .54 and I REALLY want to take a Doe w/ the pistol if the oppertunity arises within 30 yards is there any pistol that would be better suited for this? WI Smoke

    Smelting Out Alloys?

My Freind says you can smelt and skim your alloyed lead enough to make it it "Soft Lead" again. Say turning wheelweight into good round ball material. I don't think you can get enough out to make much of a difference. Who is correct? WI Smoke

It is the same lead that was mentioneed in the topic before this one that kept giving off some gold colored film as I was tring to flux it. The stuff was coming off faster than I could skimm. WI Smoke

    Health Concerns

I feel that I may have been able to do a little better in both regards but this casting expeince is only a week old to me, and I felt I was actual doing quite well. I had a nice cross wind but may have had my head over the pot too much, and I did breath in some smoke that was created when I put...

    Health Concerns

After messing w/ smelting my new dirty lead for a few hours I felt fine, until about 2 am when I woke up and throat was swollen shut. Not my breathing tube but the swallering one. Thought it was just a giant goober and went back to sleep. By mourning I could get alittle water down but really had...

    Gold scimmings from my lead?

Got some lead this weekend from my club. When I melted it to make it smaller ingots and to flux is a few times, a gold colored layer kept forming. this stuff was coming up as fast as I could scimm it. One guy told my the lead originally came from a fork lift counter weight. Thanks WI Smoke...

    Changing Nipples?

I had a problem w/ My GPR And Lyman Plains Pistol. (same company Investarms) The nipples they put on are to large in diameter, so the cap doesn't seat all the way down. You can do 2 things. 1. buy a new higher end nipple. Hot Shot is what I bought works great. 2. Chuck your original nipple in...

    MY BALLS ARE WRINKLY

Just tried making RB's from a Lee mould I recieved today and they almost all turned out bad. Is the lead to hot/cold Is it the mould temp? And I realized If I am going to keep doing this an electric lead pot will come in handy!! Thanks Wi Smoke
