    Northwest Passage

I would truly love to see the remake of Roger's St. Francis 's raid, but agree with it based on,"White Devil" When they headed out on their trip, they travelled right past my house on L. Champlain, and it's rumoured that they may have pulled to shore and camped close to here......Gary

    Afternoon/evening hunts

My favorite time to be in the deer woods is the period between 10 am and 2 pm. I enter in the early am, and find whats been moving, but when the am hunter's start back to camp, and when the night crew is heading back to their stands, they stir up the deer, and get them moving.....there's 3 200...

Favorite non-toxic shot, and sizes, for waterfowl?

Thanks for the comment's. My 20 is open chokes, and the avg. shot over decoys is 25 yds., or I let them pass, and circle back. I'm lucky, and have few cripples, but have attended several steel shot seminar's that were in the past put on by Remington, and learned that shooting steel is a lot...

Favorite non-toxic shot, and sizes, for waterfowl?

Thanks, I will admit that this particular 20 ga. is the most accurate, and hardest shooting weapon that I've had in a long time. At under 6 lbs. it does let you know when you release the trigger, but I have never noticed that when shooting at game....only at days end.....Gary

    Old eyes syndrome

I also have had to find a new sighting system at 62. Since all my ML rifles are set up with the stock drop for open sights, and being a tracker in thickets where most all shots are 25-40 yards, I solved my problem this way. I removed the rear sight and the blade front and install a shot-gun...

    I Got Lucky This Weekend

Great shot, and great venison for the freezer. I like the same shot when deer is calm and close, and the shoulder shot on a moving deer, as most of mine are being a tracker. As the " Patriot" said to his boys....." aim small, miss small"

Favorite non-toxic shot, and sizes, for waterfowl?

This year has been banner....from the Lake blind on Lake Champlain...4 hunter's over 3 weekends have but 65 ducks and 2 geese in the freezer( I'm the only one shooting BP, and my 20ga SxS has bagged 12, with 2 doubles on mallards. As stated before I use 70 grs. ffg, with 1 oz. # 2 steel, and...

Bad year for acorns around here...

Here in the Champlain valley, the acorns crop is moderate, more on the white oaks than the reds. The apple and choke cherry are really heavy, and already are being gobbled up. The hickory nuts, in contrast to the acorn crop is out of bounds, already collected 3 bushels for consumption and...

    Trying differnt wads

I too have used the 2 card wads over powder, and 1 over shot. Lately have been using the same combo, only with felt wads. Just put an order in for fiber wads to try over powder. I have been very happy with the felt wads, and wonder if patterns will perhaps be tighter with the fiber wads...
