    They lifted the Fire Bans.

I use a .495 ball and .005 cotton patches in my Traditions 50 cal Kentucky rifle, over usually 70 grains of GOEX FFg. I use GOEX FFFg for the pan, and I am not getting good reliability. Too often not getting the rifle to fire. Sometimes the pan powder burns but does not ignite the main charge...

    They lifted the Fire Bans.

Okay, so it's been a few weeks, and now there is snow on the ground, since the gov't graciously allowed us to once again ... sorry, sorry. But since then I traded trucks-- the new one is better in the snow. And ... BONUS ... I remembered how to load and fire. .

    Dispute with Muzzle-Loaders.com

The Traditions Deluxe Kentucky Flintlock finally arrived ... ordered from Muzzle-Loaders.com back in September. I do not have any criticism of this dealer, and I am aware of serious problems in Spain (where Traditions are made) because of the ChiCom bio attack. I hope the company does well in...

    Cap Guy Converted to Flintlock

I have one of those Traditions Kentucky Flintlocks ... Love It! So much more fun than ... well ... 30-40+ years of those other things. Next Up for YOU: A Kibler Colonial. (we all know that the "low-cost" Traditions Kentucky is just a "gateway drug".)

    Rare Flintlock Rifle

... something is wrong about that Frizzen. Someone has sanded it, or used a file? No longer any evidence that it has made sparks.

    How many out there?

It is known, how many. At least roughly. Some sources have finally started using more realistic numbers for total firearms in America ... and that is more than 700 million. Seems I read in one source two years ago that of the total, about 30 million are muzzleloaders of all sorts, antiques and...

    Shooting at indoor ranges

Oh, great. Two or three have suggested air rifles. So here is another class of accessory and accouterment added to all that each must have in order to satisfy the MLDA (Muzzle Loading Drug Addiction). And of course this next must-have accessory must include its own collection of accessories...

    History of the patch

This is a great Thread, on a great interWeb site. I'm under the impression that most here prefer the outdoors. And yet here is a scholarly and polite discussion, with the need for hard-copy documentation, of how Americans truly once lived. Historical fact, properly researched. While the rest...

    building a work bench

Wow ... I didn't know there were others, just like me ... edit: Actually ... there is evidence: a contemporary/associate of Leonardo Da Vinci said that during his life, Leonardo started more than 400 works and projects. "And he never finished any of them."

Soon to be a flint shooter (maybe)

Yes, thanks! And it was not an article by Claude Mathis. The article I was thinking of is "Flintlocks- How to shoot them" by Paul Vallandigham, and it is included there in the Tables page.

Soon to be a flint shooter (maybe)

What happened to the "How To ... " section of the forums? When I was getting started with my new Flintlock Rifle just two months ago, I read an article by Claude Mathis that was very informative. What happened to that article?

    History of the patch

I have wondered similarly, while practicing swabbing between every shot. Using lots of patches! Were they cutting up their shirts? In the equipment which David Cooke carried, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of cleaning and lubricating provisions...

    building a work bench

The idea of only one workbench is ... fascinating. But of course this thread discusses the bench used for building muzzle loaders. I'm working on cleaning up two for that purpose, in my garage. There is yet a third one in the garage. My reloading bench in the patio room is a small one. And ...

    two issues with revolver

That looks a whole lot like my 1860 Colt Army. The stepped diameter cylinder is to allow .44 cal, increased from the lesser caliber 1851. Yes, some disassembly is required. There is either debris or severe rust in the internals of the piece. It is not difficult to take apart, just use a...

    Non-Availability of Imports From Italy

Whatever the reasons for not shipping, it seems to be affecting Spain, as well. I ordered a Traditions Deluxe Flintlock Kentucky from Muzzle-Loaders.com in the first week of September, and they cannot get them. It is my understanding that the Traditions-branded arms are made in Spain.
