What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

There are two routes I use to my gun club depending on traffic reports. One is 25 miles, the other 30 miles one way. This morning the traffic report was wrong. I took the 30 mile route and got hung up for about 30 minutes in traffic. When I arrived at the range the parking lot was dug up for a...

Took my new Traditions Crockett to range for the first time

The Crockett Rifle, tons of fun. I sometimes regret letting mine go. It appears you're off to a good start. I wish I'd kept the tag I'd attached to my Crockett with a group and load information on it. Mine would shoot clover leafs or near clover leafs regularly at 25 yards. I can't recall the...

    Relined barrel proble

I had Bobby Hoyt rebore one barrel, a trashed caplock T/C .50 White Mountain Carbine to .54 with a roundball twist. I was completely satisfied with the whole experience, and the barrel shoots very well.

    Relined barrel proble

Well Rudyard, Jerry Cunningham is a name I haven't heard for years. I'm assuming you're referring to the J.C. who once ran the Montana Rifle Barrel Company. If so, I used to sell his barrels. In fact at one time I'd heard he had told folks I was his Eastern Montana distributor. Lol I did sell...

    Round Ball Tumbling With Graphite

It would appear not even Tinkerbell thinks graphite "dust" is worthwhile, she's brushing it off, as many are you. https://images.app.goo.gl/qZNJNdRTokNm3q9j9 With affection from one of the magnificent three.

    Blue balls

There's a fellow here somewhere, I won't mention who due to his apparent sensitive nature, that suggests putting your cast balls in a tumbler with some graphite. I'm not sure it would help any imperfections but it should make them all the same color. I sure hope you have a better sense of humor...

    Round Ball Tumbling With Graphite

Is it just me, or is this what one might call an overreaction? Need some "safe space"?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I spent a couple hour of range time with .40 cal and .50 cal caplock rifles. The .40 is a halfstock made up by Ted Fellowes several years ago. The .50 is a Spingfield Hawken and has a 1:48 twist marked on the barrel. The .40 shot well favoring a .400 cast ball over the .395 Hornady. The .50 was...
