I wad about to ask the same thing. More over, what good is it with the frizzen open and the pan empty?

    Retina issues and Recoil

Your doctor is right on the money. Regarding that near-sightedness, people with myopia have eyeballs that are slightly too big, causing the light to focus before it hits the retina. That slightly over-sized eyeball condition creates thin edges around the retina, which is why they are more...

    Traditions Trapper Pistol

You're welcome. I bought the same kit from them but haven't had to test it out yet because I bought a good number of caps before the crisis hit. The parts certainly interact like they'll make some good caps, though, given the careful fitting of the two pieces to the device.

    Traditions Trapper Pistol

It is definitely too muzzle heavy for one-handed stances used in target shooting, but it's accurate. A good two-handed stance works well with it, so even if it doesn't do well for target shooting, it'll do well for hunting.

    Balancing Springs

I'm glad to hear that that technique is valid. I'll definitely have that on my agenda in the near future. I think I'm going to work on both springs. The mainspring has some pretty serious force behind it as well.

    Balancing Springs

Thank you both for your insights. I have been getting very reliable ignition from my Trapper, but with the flints only being good for about 30 shots on it, I'm thinking I'll have to carefully polish down the top convex side of the main spring to thin it and reduce the tension a smidgen. It...

    Balancing Springs

Someone revived a necro thread, which I started reading, and in one of the first couple of posts, someone mentioned the concept of Traditions flintlock needing to have their springs balanced. Does that refer to adjusting the tension of the main and frizzen springs to achieve a force of impact...

You should try some of that yellow cornmeal. It's pretty robust stuff.

Those carpenter bees can be really pesky. I like your solution involving the pistol and uncooked grits!

Do I have what it takes?

I would test that nipple wrench on the nipples of your revolver. The one in your picture looks like it is one I saw advertised for rifle nipples when I was searching for nipple wrenches for my own revolver, and it may be too big to fit the recesses for the nipples on your revolver. If it does...

Any time. That's a picture of it straight out of the box before I got flints from TOTW.
