    Caywood wilson first shots

My Wilson does great out to 70 yards with a .600 ball, Walmart denim patch, spit for lube and 65 grains of 3f. The .595 balls are way to loose for my barrel. The denim is pretty thick patch material. Nothin fancy. Rio

    PA Primative / traditional

Greetings all in PA: I'm happy to say I took my first white tail (doe) a couple of days after Xmass in south western PA. I made the shot from a tree stand, about 15 yards or so. Being a Colorado boy, I don't spend much time in a stand while hunting elk or mule deer. I'm lucky to have a...

    Traditions - Not Happy

I had some problems with a Shenadoaha flinter. I did two things to get it to shoot. First of all I drilled out the flash liner with a drill bit 1 size larger than the original hole. The second thing was getting a LPR lock from LR. Kind of a bummer to have to buy a new $100 lock for a new...

    Compass/navigation

BST: If your still looking onto the period compass, give this a try. http://www.bentstvrain.org/ You may need to e-mail them and just ask. These guys portray Topographic Enginners of the early to mid 1800's and are totally into it. They are way up on period survey equipment etc.. and even...

    making char

I have to agree with Frosty, Monks cloth works great. I also get mine at Wal Mart. As far as your cotton shirts, go for it what do you have to loose. If it doesn't catch a spark toss it out. Rio

    What brand of traditional snowshoes?

Hay Greenmtboy: If you get time, put up a pic of your neat pistol shoulder strap harness you made. I need to make one for the revolver I got from you. Rio

    Buffallo Tongue Recipe?

I've cooked (boiled) buffalo tongue a bunch. It's important to due a slow boil (3 to 4 hours) over your fire. Do not roast it, fry it, or other. It is awesome when it is boiled. TK

    TVM

I agree with all of the above. I have a .54 Late Lancaster, a .40 Leman both flintlock, and a .40 flintlock pistol. They are all great shooters, I've taken two elk with the Lancaster. Toni is awesome and they are always around to answer questions. Takes about 11 months for an order to be...

Whats your thoughts on the t/c hawken flintlock

Keep your eye open for a nice used one. T/C really raised the price on these puppies in 2007. I have a bunch of buddies that I hunt with during flintlock season in PA that love them, and have hunted with them for years. Rio
