Baker rifle and touch hole liner
I set my barrel back a bit which caused more work in that the geometry of the barrel, lock and hand guard and trigger changed. That was a huge struggle for me. The touchhole was drilled last with the plug in. I have a shallow V notch and if I'm not happy with the way the Baker shoots over...- Tobee

Anyone have a TRS Baker flintlock rifle?
Yes, via email with the cost of shipping. They had my credit card info and asked permission to use it. Cost for the artillery carbine, if I recall correctly was $120 to Oahu via USPS. Imho, they are experts at packing stuff. Like to recommend a book: British Military Flintlock Rifles...- Tobee

Anyone have a TRS Baker flintlock rifle?
Have built a TRS Baker myself. Paid extra for the assembled lock, soldered bayonet lug and cut dovetails. If I recall, I waited two months for the extra work to be done as a kit happened to be in stock. The second kit ordered, a 1756 artillery carbine was a 2 year, 5 month wait. Got it...- Tobee

Continual trouble inserting Uberti 1858 cylinder
jdn262: also have a new-ish '58 uberti with the same "pointy" hand. Same problem inserting the cylinder the conventional way. See the pic? A probe is pointing to the opening of a notch on the rear of the cylinder. What I do is insert the cylinder from the left side of the frame. Don't pull... -

People underestimate the difficulty in shooting short rifles
Have a pedersoli and 2 ph musketoons. Regarding short barrels, don't know if this is comparing apples to oranges but my stock t/c new englander shoots good with unsized Lee improved minies. Sizing .451
My lyman 451114 mold drops .451-ish soft lead bullets which are run through a .451 lube/sizer die and mic'd at .451. Lubed bullets are a drag fit in my Birmingham PH volunteer.
