    Flying with a Muzzleloader

On my muzzleloader trip to PA from SFOI used 4 TSA cypher locks with 3 digit cyphers. The check-in was uneventful at SFO with me declaring the firearm unloaded and following it to the TSA inspection area. TSA agent opened it, scanned it twice and re-locked it, and sent the pelican case on its...

    Flying with a Muzzleloader

The final analysis regarding flying with my muzzle loader. San Francisco check-in was a breeze and luggage arrived in Pittsburgh just fine. I declared an unloaded, empty rifle, signed an affidavit stating the same, went to TSA with the rifle & case, watched TSA open, tag, close, and lock the...

Traditions Hawken 50 Caliber "Iron sight picture" issue help??

Thanks "DAKurth1"! I'll give your process a try the next time. Grenadier1758: I used Thompsons' 17 lubricated patches (i think that's what they're called). They're a blueish colored patch down the barrel after each shot. I used no lubricant for the Hornady 250gr SST 45 Caliber with sabot.

I did read your post, but you offer no alternative... Perhaps I need a bit educated as I've been shooting in-line rifles. What do you suggest? Critiques are easy, what's your solution?

Traditions Hawken 50 Caliber "Iron sight picture" issue help??

My ignorance is showing again... What are PRBs? My "range" since I've gotten older is somewhere between 50-100 yards with iron sights. A bit further with scoped rifles though...

Traditions Hawken 50 Caliber "Iron sight picture" issue help??

So I went to the range this weekend to work up some loads with Pyrodex Select and 225gr Hornady SST bullets. I had do adjust the back sight up 8 clicks to get the gun to shoot 1" high at 50yds. It made the sight picture bearable, but still taking a bit to get used to... This particular rifle...

Traditions Hawken 50 Caliber "Iron sight picture" issue help??

Thanks Zonie... So I'll back off the 6 clicks I adjusted last night and try your approach. It DOES feel strange, but maybe that's how to shoot these Hawkens....
