    Building a shop

Fleener asked if the lumber has moved much and no, it has not. As far as Ron's Christmas stuff, this is built as a shop to work in, not a storage shed, so I don't have that problem. Dunno what I'd do with all my Christmas stuff...

    Building a shop

Yeah, once I set it up outside in the spring. Weatherstripping between the boards and 2X2 braces on the inside where the chocks are. I'll also true everything up and inset windows and the dutch doors. The roof will be a shallow peak.

    Swamping The Corners

Thanks, Dog, but take a look at the last two shots in the center. That's what I corrected to. Then I got hungry and went home.

    Swamping The Corners

I shot at about thirty yards or so. The points Dog6 raised are true, but my main concern with any rifle is the trail walk. That's one of the reasons I don't like to bench...the posture on the trail is just different and it affects the aiming. There's another part of sighting in that is hard...

    Building a shop

Mick...everybody says that!!! I suspect because I don't have the roof on yet. NO...it ain't a fort. That comes later when I put it outside, get the foundation and gravel around it and pout in a small, bastioned fence. heh, heh, heh

    Swamping The Corners

Thanks, Dog6 The three top shots are the group after aim point adjustment. For the last shot I took my right earplug out and got a good sounding. The patches are striated but not ripped. Have a day and a half

double set trigger only tripping hammer to half cock

The rifle in my post on the swamped barrel did the same thing at first. Before I started monkeying around with tools I air blew out the workings of the lock and put some WD40 in there. That did the trick. So, before you start something you can't undo, try cleaning up around the fly...nothing...

It's the best bench clamp I have. The rubberized pastic jaws never damage work, the grip is firm and the little under lever releases and opens the jaws without a struggle.

    Building a shop

That's Right...a whole shop... Part One. You gotta Love Lincoln Logs. Unless Claude whacks it, this thread is going to be in several parts because the project was too long to write about in one shot. A lot of guys can post their workbenches, but not a lot get to build a shop from the ground...

    Swamping The Corners

First build. When the Pecatonica Jaeger stock, barrel, triggers and lock showed up it came with a straight, 31” , .58 cal. barrel because they did not have any swamped barrels in stock. I did not want to wait and jury rig the barrel inletting, so I posted on two forums about swamping...

    Blood thinners and sharp tools

I can't really help you on the meds front because my four stents have only pushed me to 81 Mg baby aspirin. But I'll tell you what...You're right to be concerned. The best thing you can do is to slow down and plan almost every move. Keeping your hands aft of the cutting direction and blade is...

    Wet sanding & restain

Your Killin' me, Fred...Can't decide whether the workmanship adds to the color or the color adds to the workmanship. Hope this is your day job...

    Case Hardening revolver hand?

Gus is right. You lose the hand you replace it cheaply. You mess up the indexing by affecting the notches and you can't ever get it right. That's dangerous because you don't always see the failing of the indexing from behind the hammer. Drop said and it is too late. I had that happen on an...

    stain old couch leather?

Brown Bear answered your question on rotary punches. They work just fine otherwise. Silicon will attack leather fibers over time, and can corrupt a seam in a matter of months. Some of the other Cordwainers told me that it does not have much effect on synthetic threads, which they will use on...
