Size of P53 Enfield side screws

My Son tells me that the original M1842 tool is the best for that era. He says the reproduction tools are not very good. Hope this helps.

    Problems with Flint & Steel

I really should take the time to make my own char cloth. I've collected good cotton lint from the dryer filter and several hand fulls of red cedar bark in my bag. I even have a couple of old broken files to make a new steel. All I need is the energy to do it. ;)

    Rocky Mountains

Phil, that is beautiful country. I've been lucky enough to spend time there and explore, but never lived out west. While I'm content with the land I have, if I were 10-15 years younger I'd head west.

    Problems with Flint & Steel

I'm curious to know if I'm the only one who has been unsuccessful at starting a fire with flint & steel. I have tried 7 or 8 times over the past few years and no luck. I first bought a cheap kit, then bought a better steel from TotW and more flint. I even bought some denim to make new char...

Size of P53 Enfield side screws

One of my Sons is big into Enfield's. I've heard him say that the original Enfield supplied multi tool fits everything needed. I'll ask him if he knows any actual turn screw sizes.

Being retired has its benefits. Getting older, not so much. But better than the alternatives of death or working!;)

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I started the morning by putting some corn in the feeder and spreading some protein feed. And swapped out a couple of camera cards. Haven't looked at them yet, but my deer are doing fine and I have a few nice bucks. Then I took my Investarms flint Hawken and spent about 3 hours shooting. Filed...

Rifle Primer Conversion Units to Replace Peercussion Caps

I think its a good idea for every cap shooter to purchase the 22LR kit and a couple of bags of the primer compound. For the money its cheap insurance. I have the #11 set and plan to get the #10. I suggest using .005" soft sheet brass instead of aluminum cans. The sheet brass is easy to find...

TC New Englander: Fixed Choke vs. Tubes?

I have an early fixed choke New Englander 12ga, cylinder bore. Bought it in 1981. Never tried to work up a turkey load for it. But for 25 yards I think a good load could be found. I used to squirrel hunt with mine using #6 shot, had no problems reaching out to 30 yards or so. One of my Sons...

    Woe is me....

Just a shot in the dark, but are there any sharp edges on the nipple face or hammer cone?

    Woe is me....

I'm interested in that information too. While I've been able purchase a nice supply of CCI's recently, I've been using old stock #11s & #10s.
