Trust me. It's worth initial cost output and grunt work of building them. Saves on the back and wedding; and is a hell of a lot easier to turn in the spring.
I haven't taken my Hawken out deer hunting yet, but after speaking for a few people I have a question about blood trails. A friend who is a fanatical deer hunter in PA will only use conicals while deer hunting with his muzzleloader because of a lack of blood trails. I didn't give his opinion...
Wow! amazing that I am not the only one having these thoughts. I turned 60 this year and couldn't wait to retire so I could spend more time hunting and fishing. The fishing has been great! But, like a lot of you, I'm not so excited about killing something as I used to be. I never was really a...
59 1/2. Been shooting since probably age 7 or 8. Didn't get into Black Powder until this year when I finally had the time and patience. Look forward to a good run with my new addiction....I mean hobby.

So, I haven't taken my .50 Hawkin out hunting yet because I'm still getting comfortable shooting it. I have had good results with 85 grains of FF Schuetzen keeping a group under 2 inches. I working on patches, etc. Question is how low can I go on a powder charge for whitetails? I don't see...

My parents were that cut of people. Although my dad was a civil engineer by occupation; but he was a craftsman by heart, especially wood. My wife and I were discussing one day about the fact that probably 80% of the furniture in our house was made by him and therefor irreplicable should...
Now that I've been bitten by the Black Powder Bug, I want to start small and slow, and make a bullet board for my .50 Hawkin. How think should the board be to hold the balls securely?
