Traditions has a new model coming out

If the kit looks like an earlier model or another maker is not important to me. If a person wants to buy a rifle kit it is his money and choice. What is good to hear is the company is still making kits for people to buy and not going the way of the inline and nothing else available.

    Waxing your barrel/bore

I would think mixing burnt black powder with the WAX in a barrel might be a PITA to clean and might cause the barrel to rust due to any small amount of burnt black powder left inside the barrel. But this is only my ramblings maybe someone will agree with me or not :idunno:

Sow With A Patched Round Ball

will5a1: Get yourself a good come-a-long hook it to the front of the bed and use it to drag your deer up the plywood. A friend and I did this with two hogs that were about 225lbs. Sure saved our backs.

My Granddaughter's 1st Deer ... on Thanksgiving morning.

Great success story you have a right to be proud. My father took me hunting when he had to carry me. I took my father on his first rifle deer hunt when I was an adult. A couple years later when I got my first BP deer he bought a smoke pole and started hunting with BP and loves it.

    Hoosier Buck

Congrats Nice Buck I would clean the ball and glue it under the bucks head mount for a memento of what the Buck was taken with. I shot a 11 point but he had broken off the tines so much I did not save the rack. Still he was very tasty.

    Jumping the string

I have had a lot of deer drop down when they hear any noise to make a fast escape. Most of the time I have been able to take the deer cleanly but sometimes I hit them in or above the spine. This has been with a percussion BP rifle. I will put this in as a thought not as criticism. Are you use to...

    My First Flintlock Deer

Congratulations first of many. I think it is a great deer especially with a rock lock. Since I don't eat antlers I think a nice fat doe will help fill the freezer and give you some tasty low cholesterol meat.

finding the center of a group

George I think your explanation of how to measure a group is very beneficial. It would show me exactly where I need to adjust the sites to get closer to the center of the bulls eye.

    It followed me Home!

I wish good looking gal like that followed me home. I would keep her forever. I sight in with my hunting load and target shoot with the same. I don't get to practice that much and I want my rifle to hit where I shoot.

    stuck projectile

I once had a patched ball stuck down the barrel. I tried pounding it down to be able to shoot it out. The more I pounded on the ball the more it flattened creating more area with rifling. I poured some engine oil down the barrel stood it in the corner and waited until the next morning still no...

Frustrating Day at the Range, advise needed

I have a TC 50 cal Flint Lock that I had trouble with initially. After asking a few questions I found out the slotted removable vent liner was part of the problem. I replaced it with one that uses an Allen wrench and works like a cone on the outside to get the flash hole closer to the powder. in...
