Opinions on TVM Early Virginia Rifle?

TVM Early VA .54cal, 42" swamped, 1/66", +++ maple. Mine has iron furniture, basically because it's uncommon, and I don't do any reenacting so I just got what I wanted. Shot a deer with it first time out last year, sighted it in without ever touching the sights (it loves 102gr FFg for my...

    flintlock dry ball

I was right next to a guy on the range who did this. We poured a small amount of 4F powder over the touchhole, and kinda stuffed it in with a T-pin that I had in my bench box. Did that about 20 times. It took a while... and I have no idea how much powder we got in grain-wise (maybe 4-5?)... But...

    the deer ran off!

Unbelievable critters, those whitetails. Good job sticking with it. I know of hunters that don't even bother if they don't drop the deer right in its tracks....makes me sick.

Successful maiden hunt with the new .54

This was a few weeks back, on the second day of PA's one-week muzzleloader season, but the first day out with the .54 Early Virginia from TVM. The day started out at 25F, with 2" of frozen, super crunchy snow from the day before under foot, which is really kinda rare for the 3rd week of...

Looking for load info for specific barrel

Thanks, guys, for all of the input. My first trip to the range last week was cut short by the weather, but I started with 85 gr FFFg with .535 ball and .015 patch. First two targets (5 shots each),with a wipe between each shot, all hits were about 3.5" above poa and not well grouped. I'm...
