    MAG-SPARK™

I don't think of the Mag Spark as a replacement. I think of it as having options. I make my own percussion caps with soda cans and H-48 priming compound, which are very good for single shot and double barrel muzzleloaders. I haven't used my homemade yet for C&B revolvers.

.452 RNL bullet in 1858 Remington?

Without a conversion cylinder? Several of the firing pins in my conversion cylinder are totally stuck in the 'fired' position. I can remove the pin assemblies, but two firing pins will not come out of their rings. And, is there a special screwdriver that can be ordered for the pin assemblies...

.452 RNL bullet in 1858 Remington?

Has anyone tried loading a 200 gr round nose lead bullet (meant for a 45 ACP) in a replica 1858 Remington revolver?

    Making your own percussion caps?

Today I shot my 54 cal Lyman GPR using homemade powder, and caps I made with the #11 percussion cap maker and Prime-All. They worked every time. I don't have to rely on Goex or CCI any more. I'll have to chronograph my loads someday. But the thump was solid with a 230 gr ball and 80 gr of FFFg.

    Making your own percussion caps?

That really doesn't matter because it's so easy to make at home, and the homemade mixture doesn't require the energy from the impact of any bullet. You can set it off with a flash powder firecracker.

Pedersoli 12 GA Scout Shotgun (percussion)

It will be quite some time before I get it. The site said there'd be about a 4 week wait. I don't think Pedersoli tried to reproduce anything from history with this gun. I think it's just a functional hunting weapon for muzzleloading season...

    Explosive Cannonballs

Uh yeah. POTATO POTAHTO . Cannon balls bursting above Fort McHenry. Mortars are a type of cannon, a type of artillery. You nit picking ninny.

Pedersoli 12 GA Scout Shotgun (percussion)

I just ordered a Pedersoli 12 GA Scout Shotgun (single shot percussion) from Dixie.

Difference in bronze and iron cannons

At what point did the makers have to switch to iron when making cannons? Did bronze cannons have a maximum bore, or projectile size? There are some rather large bronze cannons on display in town squares.

    Explosive Cannonballs

And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. There were definitely cannon balls exploding ABOVE Fort McHenry in 1814, 50 years before the Civil War.

Making black powder pellets from GOEX?

Has anyone tried making pellets from Goex powder? I'd like to make pellets for my Great Plains 54 cal rifle and cap and ball revolvers. I'm guessing that I'd need to mix a binder and the powder together and then press it into molds? Any ideas? Steve

    Brass framed Colts

To extend the life of a brass-framed Pietta 1860 Army revolver, what charge of FFFg should I use?

    Brass framed Colts

I like the look of the brass framed Colt revolvers, and they're less expensive. Do they really shoot loose due to the malleability of the brass? Anyone experienced it first hand?

Cleaning Cap & Ball revolver - Tip

I do the normal soaking of the barrel assembly and cylinder, but then I do something kinda messy. I've always been concerned about the crud building up inside, but have a hard time putting the inner works back together right. So, I squirt a bit of olive oil into the works and then blow the...

    CVA derringer

At a recent bowling pin shoot one of our members shot a pin from about 4 feet with a 45 cal derringer. 20 gr FFFg. It bounced off.
