    Lake Lure North Carolina

Thanks for the replies. I have been to Cowpens Battlefield and Kings Mountain several years ago. We visited Chimney rock yesterday and then "shopping with the wife and sister-in-law" in Hendersonville. Brother-in-law and I spent a lot of time sitting streetside watching the crowds while they...

    flint and steel firemaking

Thank you! This is a lot of information and I do appreciate the trouble to put it all together. I would not have thought about the oval striker lasting longer because it has two sides or providing better protection for my knuckles. I will start with a kit. If I figure things out and progress...

I have never tried flint and steel fire making. Where could I buy a fire making kit to give it a try?

    Lyman rifles

I was at a flea market with a buddy when we happened on an old wallhanger flinter. My buddy asked to see it. He looked it over then sniffed the muzzle and said, "That's what I thought, salt." The vendor stepped back and asked what do you mean? My buddy said, " They loaded these old things by...

    T/C Hawken accuracy

No worries friend. The same argument is alive and well in all circles. Ford vs. Chevy, 9mm vs. .45, Ricebikes vs. Harleys It is even worse in some fishing circles where the fly fisherman disparage the livebait fishermen that consider the bass fishermen snobs that see guided offshore trips...

    T/C Hawken accuracy

I think the method is dictated by the terrain. When in West Teaxs, northern California and New Mexico we stalked. We walked and glassed until we spotted deer then stalked to shooting distance. Here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast I primarily hunt the Pascagoula River Basin...the Swamp. A...

    Pedersoli Questions

I wanted to update any who were interested in my quest for a new squirrel rifle. The Used Pedersoli on GB would be about $650 shipped. It does have a few extras like a leather gun sleeve, balls and bag, measure and flask to ease the price a bit. A new one will run $750-$800 plus shipping etc...

    Pedersoli Questions

First some background. I first shot a BP gun in the early 70s. It was an antigue shotgun. We cut open modern shells for the shot and used toilet paper for wadding. In the late 70s I got a TC. Through the 80s I shot various makes and calibers then slowly dropped out. Wanting a different...

First trip out with the new GPR

Excuse my ignorance, but what does the 1:7 & 1:5 represent? I understand the ball weight, powder volume and patch thickness but not the ratio noted on the targets. Any of those groups should be "minute of deer or hog" and that last one deserves to be framed and bragged on.
