    Patterson Colt

Crockett, I have never done any research on how they ( Rangers ) loaded the Paterson on the trail. I have seen many pics of cased sets where the loading tool was included, so I draw the conclusion that the loading tool was available for the civilian market. I can only assume that the same was so...

    Patterson Colt

I have one Crockett, without the loading lever and made by Uberti. I always load it with the separate loading tool and have no trouble doing so. I shoot it often enough to know it very well. I really like the gun, and the bother that people hear about using them is actually a historical...

    A Colt Paterson Holster

I have had this Paterson for a number of years, but have never had a holster for it. Anytime I wanted to pack it very far, I ended up stuffing it in my belt. After conversing with Swampy, he offered the suggestion of making up a holster for it. Since he did not have that particular model in...

Well, I'm dead (lost flint & steel)

I am the same as you in that I trust my skills. Have become totally reliant and trustworthy of the PC methods for making fire regardless of the season or the weather. For me personaly, that frame of mind was achieved through experience.

    Arbor Lube

Hello G Dog, I took the finish off the revolver and also removed all of the Italian stamping. The pistol is a Pietta like yours and I am shooting 25 gr. Goex 3f, a lubed felt wad, and a .375 cast ball. I found the .375 ball to be just right and the chamber mouths shave a perfect full ring of...

    Arbor Lube

Took the uncleaned '61 back out today and put 24 more rounds through it. Cylinder is still rotating on the arbor just fine. So for now, 60 consecutive rounds without pulling the cylinder from the arbor to wipe it down and re-lube is fully possible. I am likeing this lube for my percussion colts...

    Arbor Lube

Many thanks regarding your advise kind sir  . I do not have the experience that you have with Remmy's, but have found that they are more critical than Colt's regarding arbor binding, so I can see where your methods would prove to be most effective. I have applied the occasional wipe down...

    Arbor Lube

Wanted to give a bit of preliminary findings on some experimentation that I have been doing with a natural lube on the arbor of my percussion revolvers. A while back I decided to try a mixture of deer tallow and bear oil lube out on my repros that a very good friend made up for me. The lube is...

    Guyer Over/Under Rifle

Sorry, did not think of this until after my last post. Here are a couple of cropped pics that show the insert and sight better. Also a closeup of the Brookville Eye.

    Guyer Over/Under Rifle

Excellent :applause: . Thanks for the added info. The "Brookville Eye" - most interesting I have to wonder if the comb plate was a common feature on his guns. You can also see the steel insert he added to the upper point of the butt plate in this pic. Rather than a flat top on the rear...
