    I also use a .562 round ball in a 58 cal Mississippi Rifle. mine has a 1 in 72 Twist its plenty accurate. Now for the-- Reason it's Fun, Kills Deer well, cheap to cast, Did I mention Fun to Shoot?

    I also use type F, on my Flintlock after cleaning I wipe down barrel & wood and the bore, then before shooting I run a dry patch then alcohol patch down and good togo :thumbsup:

    I have a 40cal and a 50cal dropin, both tack drivers, Also my flintlock has 50cal green mt. B weight-Swamped and it also is very accurate :wink:

    At our club matches you could shoot all you want with the peep sight, I also have two peep sight hunting rifles a 50cal and a 40cal. But, you just cant enter the matchs for a prize, the prizes are for open sights

    I have a older lyman mold that just happens to make a ball .486 and I really like it. I can use my wood ram rod for loading without a short starter :thumbsup:

    Mazo. That is the best way I have found also, I made a cutter from an old ballpoint pen tip (the part the refill sticks out of) that was metal, I used a small three corner file to make four teeth and then turned it around the screw until i was able to pull the screw, then I used a longer screw...

    .485 Round Ball Mould

    I have a old lyman mold that makes a ball of .486 that I use for my 50cal (green mountain barrel)and I use .010 patches so that I don't need a short starter, and they actually do group very well.

    Touch Hole Liner Use

    My first thought is that ignition would be slower. But I think it would be a good experiment to try on my next build ! I did have a Brownbess Musket that had no liner' and ignition did not seem to be extra slow :hmm:
