    Shooting sporting clays with muzzleloader

IMO, traditional Skeet works best with muzzle loaders. We shoot a singles-only round then do a round of doubles. If your group has folks that are experienced at reloading, it only takes a minute or two to be ready for the next station.

    Questions about shot loads

If you're looking for a tighter pattern, try the "Stumpkiller Shotcups" https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/20-ga-shot-loads.99993/post-1309898 That's what I use for my Turkey loads...reduces the pattern diameter at 25 yards by 15-20%.

Went and shot some trap today for the first time with my SXS 12

Fun, ain't it! Save your #6 shot for the Turkeys. Get a bag of #7 1/2 or #8. More shot than powder usually gives better patterns. Once you figure out your leads you'll be powdering birds regularly. Experiment and Enjoy!

New SS Nipple of Navy Arms Zouave Question

Like Zonie said, most nipple outlet holes are less than 0.03". Forget the pin, get a set of Torch tip cleaners... You can get them at any hardware store.

    Over-powder or Nitro card?

When Skeet shooting I use 50/40/10 mix of Castor oil/alcohol/Murphy's in a spray bottle. One squirt in each barrel after I dump the shot and before the final card wad. Murphy's and water works also. Ballistol, Simple Green, etc...They all help with fouling. When hunting I don't bother with lube.

    Over-powder or Nitro card?

Yes, Usually a couple of over-shot cards over the powder and one card over the shot. Depends on the gun...

    Over-powder or Nitro card?

Overshot cards for Skeet and Trap. Other types of cards/wads don't improve things enough to bother. Wads of Newsprint when hunting, just be mindful of Fire hazard/conditions.

    pedersoli double 20g flint

Received mine last week. Beautiful gun. Did some informal clay bird shooting with it and had no issues with trigger pull or ignition. Forgot my FFFFg flask so I had to use FFg in the pan. Ignition was a little slow but no misfires. Some observations... - Barrel key was extremely tight but some...

    pedersoli double 20g flint

Just ordered one from DGW. If the weather cooperates, I should be shooting some Skeet with it next weekend.

    3f in pedersoli shotgun

What BB said. FFFg works OK but Fg seems to give the most uniform patterns. FFFg appears to foul(cake the breech-faces)a bit less than Fg but it's only apparent after a couple of rounds of Skeet. Use what you have.
