    I'm in the same situation. Been wanting to get into muzzleloading and for my first build I got the Traditions St. Louis Hawken. I do woodworking and comfortable with that side but wanted to stretch on the finish and then the metal. Forums like this has proven to be a great source of info...

    Detroit Sportsmen's Congress off Dequindre Rd, Shelby Township, Mi. They have an active black powder group with wood walks etc. Have to get involved but like I said love the history.

    Been wanting to get into muzzleloading for a while. Joined a new shooting club and they have a group and decided to pull the trigger and build a Hawkins kit for my first one. Love the history of guns and learning about them. Already see that I can learn a lot here. Thanks
