    Broken kibler smr trigger guard

To all, I hope you are all well. This morning while working on the smr, I was working to inlet the trigger guard. I've had to gently tweak its tabs a little to get good fit. Once I got the back portion of the guard inlet, I started to focus on the interference of the guard itself against the...

    Alafia Rendezvous info..........

I lived 18 years in Ft Lauderdale. There are no muzzleloading shoots within 220 miles of there. You have your choice of public ranges (Markham Park, Trail Glades) that are not welcoming to muzzleloaders. I left FL in October 2020 and moved to OH so I could resume shooting. Who could not like...

    Alafia Rendezvous info..........

Well, if I can get through a couple more interview rounds with a company less than an hour from Homestead, our family will be moving into the area. Hopefully, I'll know something within the next couple weeks

    Douglas 45 Re-Breech?

Update pictures. These are borescope pics. The corrosion that is seen is approximately 1 inch in length but only maybe not even 1/8" in width. If my logic is solid, if I clean this corrosion out best I can and even ospho it, this is where the powder column would be anyway.

    Douglas 45 Re-Breech?

This afternoon I was able to get a tap and chase the threads. I've got them cleaned up well enough to thread the tap in by hand. They don't look bad except those 2 starter threads looking corroded. I'm going to get the bore camera in there next just to make sure it all looks good inside

    Douglas 45 Re-Breech?

I havent put my bore scope in it yet, but when I hold it up to the light, it appears shiny and smooth. I don't see rough spots in the rifling.

    Douglas 45 Re-Breech?

To all, I hope all is well. I found, what I think, is a diamond in the gravely. My family went to an antique shop in Ohio and stumbled upon someones's unfinished project. It's a curly maple stock with worm holes and a barrel zip tied to it. The pictures show the breech end and I'm not sure what...

Inletting Breech Plug- Don't Know What I Should Do

Thanks so far the responses. Yes this is a very ambitious project, but I'm not looking for a museum style piece. This is a long term learning project for my son and when finished he can be proud of it. I'm learning as well along the way and getting to live a little bit through him. I'm leaning...

Inletting Breech Plug- Don't Know What I Should Do

It is a kibler kit barrel. But I just have the barrel. During the open house, he had a selection of barrels. We came out with the SMR .40. The intent is for this to be my son's wood shop class. Since we homeschool, his woodshed would be to build a complete rifle from scratch. So, we will be...

Inletting Breech Plug- Don't Know What I Should Do

To all, I hope all is well with everyone. I have a question for the all wise group in rifle building. My son and I are getting ready to start building our first rifle and I want to have some planning figured out regarding the barrel breech. We went to a wonderful open house this summer and met...

    Help identify borescope discoveries please?

This isn't my muzzloader but my Quigley 45-70. Looks like I have to address some leading. These teslong cameras are a cats meow; and I don't like cats.

    Help identify borescope discoveries please?

My son came to me and said he cleaned his cva .50, I said "let's just see." After 2 more times cleaning and the scotchbrite treatment with Kroll. It looks better than the first time. They may look clean, but they aren't. I just put about 20 rounds through my pedersoli Quigley 45/70 from brand...

    Jim Kibler : Open House

I'm about an hour and a half away from their shop. Got it marked on the calendar for a trip with my son. Looking forward to it since we couldn't make friendship this year.
