    Kit building inlets

    I have a parts set with pretty much the same issues. the lock mortise is cut way too deep, the barrel channel is to deep and too long. Beautiful piece of wood though. Maybe some day when I have more experience I’ll try to work on it. for the money I spent I could have bought another Kibler

    Powder!!!

    I bought from Toby and Anna last month. They were close by so dove over and picked up direct. Had a great visit and got my powder at a good price. They are good people.

    Flexing a barrel

    In the late 70s I worked at Diesel engine manufacturing shop. I checked camshafts for trueness. When I had a palette of them that were out of spec I would take them to jig with a hydraulic press and adjust them into spec.

    Finish shiny or dull

    Prior to the mid 1800s would a new rifle have a gloss/shiny or a dull/ satin finish? I understand that after they have been used and seen the elements for a few years it would hard to tell from the surviving examples.

    Load data for 45 cal

    60 grains of Goex 3F, .015 Oxyoke and .440 ball. I get 2” at 50 yards with my Kibler SMR.

    Another Stupid Human Trick.....

    Well you fellers with your story’s are make me feel a lot better about about my last time out shooting. short started the ball primed and shot. Rifle made a funny sound and ball completely missed the target
