    Barrel cleaning

I used to use Hydrogen Pyroxide but got worried about it being corrosive. I now use 1 part each Murphys Oil Soap, Rubbing alcohol and Pine Sol instead of the pyroxide.

    Scrap Wood Loading Stand

I made a stand about like the one pictured. I cut a block of wood on a scrool saw that is curved to match the curve of the handle so it supports the pistol. I covered it with some green felt for some extra cushion.

    T/C patriot

I bought some CA glue and glued the small crack in my Patroit. I think you said it was thin and would run very easly. You were right. LOL.I got some on the stock and had to wipe it up with acetone. After I clamped it and let it set up there was some white residue on the stock. I used OOOO steel...

    T/C patriot

Yes the crack runs down to the lock bolt. It is a small crack it could be hard to get any glue into it. But I think I will try to do that. I really dont want to dowel it if I dont have to in case I want to sell it some day. I have never shot over 20 grains of powder in it. I think that the bolt...

    Universal rig gun grease question

I stored a T/C Hawkens for over a year with Rig in the barrel. When I wanted to shoot it I swabbed the barrel with carburetor cleaner and dried it with a few dry patches. Shot good no problems.

    new to throwing

I back up 5 to 5 and a half steps from the target. This will allow the hawk to rotate one full turn. Which it must do for competion.

    .40 cal "Mississippi poor-boy" loads

Hi Jeff welcome to the site. I have a 40.cal mule ear that I shoot matches with. It is accurate at 25 and 50 yards with .395 ball, pillow ticking, and 45 grains of FFF. I bump it up to 60 grains at 100 yards. I think 55 grains would be a good deer load at 50 yards or less. I wish I could use...

    Shaders

I like the idea of the brass sink pipe. I may have to try that. Thanks for your response.

    Shaders

My barrels are all rust browned. I have seen some shaders that were made out of PVC pipe and painted flat black that just snapped over the barrel. They can be removed when not needed. I just wanted to know what everyone else was using.

    Shaders

Any of you guys use shaders on your sights? I usually shoot at a range that faces to the east and the sun doesn't seem to be to much of a problem. I recently shot a match at a range that faces south. It was a bright sunny day and I don't have shaders. As the sun moved to the west as the day worn...

cleaning tip, just want to verify

I have been using this combination for about 10 years now.I have looked at my barrels with a bore light and have never seen any rust.Make sure to oil the barrel real good after it is dry. Try to keep the solution off of the wood as it will remove some of the stain over time.
