    Simple question…..

9 pages and I still don't can't understand why anyone would hunt or go to the range in the rain in the first place. It's supposed to be fun and I hate being out in the rain for any reason.

    Surprise.

I like hunting where I'm on top of the food chain.

    .54 TC Hawken

I would look at the nipple as the primary source of your problem. Could be that the caps aren't seating properly due to sizing issues, as not every size 11 cap and nipple are the same. Also the nipple could be starting to mushroom slightly due to age and the cap wont seat properly. Changing the...

    Blackhorn 209

Blackhorn is meant for modern inlines and 209 primers but it doesn't work in all breechplug configurations. Even then it is meant to be a vol/vol equivalent, not weight/vol equivalent.

    Sight question for older shooters

I find the peep sights work fine at the range but not so much hunting in evening low light. I have a lyman 57 on one of my GPRs and even removing the rear aperture completely, I loose the most important 10 min of the day.

    GPR restocking question

I'm going to start with a couple of the books mentioned here and then see where my thoughts are. Problem is, I have plenty of free time during the Fall and Winter, but zero time from Spring through early Fall. I like the configuration of the GPR stock and was hoping to cut down on some of the...

    GPR restocking question

I called Pecatonica a few years back. Evidently they make many of the stocks for TOW, but not the GPR fullstock and they didn't offer a GPR stock at the time. Might be worth a call to see if that changed since then. Thanks for the reading list hawkenhunter. I had seen them all mentioned on here...

    GPR restocking question

I've been wanting to restock one of my GPRs with a curly maple stock for quite some time but have been worried that I might not be up to the task. While sitting in a tree the other day, I noticed a couple small cracks originating at the rear of the lock, so I guess I may as well give it a try...

Standard thread size for ramrods and attachments.......

5/16 and 3/8 are the diameter of the rod itself. Most of my attachments are 10-32, however I do have adapters that go from 10-32 to 8-32 and vicy-versy so it doesn't matter if the rod and attachment are the same thread.

Back up pistol in same caliber?

Picked up a Traditions Trapper this season not so much as a backup but as an added opportunity. A couple of my ladder stands are situated such that a 25yd or less shot behind me and over my right shoulder is quite possible. Being right handed, that shot is quite awkward for me with a rifle, but...

    Carolina Pig Hunting Outfitters

I am looking to set up a pig hunting trip with a couple of friends that is within reasonable driving distance from Ocean City Md, so I am thinking the Carolinas. I would like to use my .54 GPR but my buddies would use modern firearms. Can anybody here recommend an outfitter in this region? Thanks
