    Nebraska goat.

Very nice pronghorn. They are not goats. They are not antelope. In all the world they are in a class all by themselves. But I understand the local nicknames for them. I got one in Wyoming back in the '90's. Personally, I didn't care much for the taste. I used the tip of the horn from mine...

    Gardening ..again

My wife makes wine of many kinds. Really, really good stuff. However, several years ago she discovered that her fermenting vat was leaking. She picked up the 5 gallon container and turned to put it in the sink. She slipped on the wet floor and went down, fracturing her hip. The vat split...

    TN/KY Rifle Show, Knoxville, TN

Well, I was there from around 10am until about noon on Friday. A few empty tables gave me the impression that the show was slightly smaller than previous years. I enjoyed the show, but I didn't buy anything. I looked over several shot pouches just to see how they were constructed. (I...

    Grandpa stories

My paturnal grandfather was an enthic Czech, born in Vienna, Austria, but grew up in the tiny Moravian village of Lepov in what is now the Czech Republic. At a young age he was apprenticed to a shoemaker and so he learned that trade. World War I opened up and Grandpop was drafted into the...

    Gardening ..again

over the past two days (Mon and Tues) I completed planting my garden. Sweet corn, okra, summer squash, zucchini, tomatoes, green peppers, and a hot banana pepper, and onions. Now, today's weather report says we will get some severe thunderstorms, high winds, and possibly hail. I was planning...

    Teach the children muzzleloaders

Before you can teach anyone, they must have an interest. A friend brought me his grandson who had picked up a Traditions muzzleloader somewhere in a trade. The kid wanted to shoot it, so I showed him all about it and I watched as he then loaded and fired it - one time. That was it. No further...

    Getting too many misfires

Most all of the above. But I haven't seen any mention of a fouled nipple. I have had a tiny piece of the cap get lodged inside the nipple. I had to pull out the nipple and run a thin wire through it, from back to front to poke the obstruction out.

    TN/KY Rifle Show, Knoxville, TN

It is mainly a show of old, original longrifles, however there are some vendors selling their wares; things such as powderhorns and shot pouches, and there may or may not be some parts vendors. There are also some contemporary muzzleloaders for sale. I don't recall ever seeing any kits for...

    Help with these pistols please.

Yep. Stuff for tourists. Not much, if any value. Just something to hang on the wall. The brass barrel on the first one looks ragged. Does that one even have a touch hole? The other one shows the touch hole behind the frizzen! I would not attempt to fire those things. However, with that...

The 46th annual Tennessee/Kentucky Rifle Show is coming up April 19-20 at the Jubilee Banquet Facility, exit 110 off I-75 north of Knoxville, TN. , then west about 1 mile on the left. $10. entrance fee. I think it is a good show. I miss it sometimes, but in general I have been attending for...

    My name is…

Welcome, from Tenasi. If your gun in question is a muzzleloader I'm sure that if you post some pictures, you will get some answers here - in the appropriate section, of course. At the least, we need a good, clear overall picture of the entire gun, then closeups of the lock, trigger guard, and...

    Squirrel Hunting Attire

My normal attire - blue jeans and any dull colored shirt, and/or my faded green surplus army field jacket. Nothing special. An orange ball cap.
