    410 ga. for rabbits

then im all for it. ive shot a 410 with a wide choke since i was just a youngin, my dad used it all his life before me. it just takes a different mindset than the "whack-em-all" 12ga.

    410 ga. for rabbits

since its a muzzleloader, is ther a reason you want to use a modern bore size? are you using modern barrels or something? you could build it with 28ga barrels and call it a 410  and where did the idea about his grandson come in? did i miss something?

    grizz back-up gun

there are times when i become a little less concerned with the laws, and a little more with my safety. 3-5 miles in? im gonna guess there wont be a conservation officer waiting at camp to check your guns in... the sidearm would be with me, for sure.

    weight of roundballs?

ok, marmot... ive been staring at ur chart for about 5 minutes now and i finally figured out why we were all thinking you meant "gr" and not "ga" because your columns are close enuf that it looks like the ga is corresponding to the number to the left of it, and wt is corresponding to the...

    Velocity & Energy levels

a regular 22lr has about 100 ft/lb or so at the muzzle  a good one like the velocitors or stingers have about 150. a 40gr bullet with 400ft/lb would be traveling at 2122fps. just wanted to clarify, since i have seen deer killed with 22lr remington subsonics that have 88ft/lbs at the...

I made a cannon, and have fired it

that would be 11/16 wall thickness. i think it would be hard to blow that up without anything more than a paper wad loaded over the powder...

    The Backwoodsman 6 bore

he stated his balls  weighed 2 1/2oz. thats 1093gr. a 1" lead ball weights 1502. his pressures probably arent very high, even with the fast 2F he's using at 200gr charges. its probably alot safer than it seems, but theres always the chance of imperfections in the tubing, an extra heavy...

    The Backwoodsman 6 bore

while that piece of pipe he is using may be holding fine for him, the next one may not. theres not enuf meat there in sch80 seamless, nor is it the correct makeup of steel for burst pressure use. that said, i have been working on a BP gun with a 1" bore for a little while. but its roughly twice...

    Turtle anyone?

keep the meat in chunks about 1" cubed or a little bigger. you cant just boil it in water or it will still taste skunky. you have to put a couple tablespoons of baking soda in the water. boil it in the BS for about 5 minutes, then rinse the scum off everything and get fresh water. add 2 or 3...

    weight of roundballs?

hawken hunter, you just made the simple formula i posted much harder and turned it around. 2867.2 x .5236 is 1501.something. 1502.6 is more acurate for pure lead, and its much easier to remember. 1502 will work fine also if you dont want to remember the .6 :v

    possum recipe

when you par boil it, throw a little baking soda in the water. same with most any nasty critter especially a turtle. then i cut the possum into chunks, drain the water and wash the baking soda scum off everything, put the meat back in the pot with some water and a half handful of red pepper...

    Weirdest Animal You Ate

horse, possum (many times... its actually good), skunk (there werent any worms in it), quite a few cats while in college, none tasted any better than the tree they were shot from, snake, beaver, muskrat (fried in flour over the camp fire and in a stew, both ways were much better than any rabbit...
