    What the heck

1980s Juker pistols and rifles are known to blow the drum out of the barrel with pressure. I had a Juker Kentucky pistol that blew out it’s drum 30 years ago. Someone might have re-tapped it and replaced the drum with something that was laying around that would fit the bill… Look at the...

    Confederate revolver, true or fake

My new model army has kept its screws intact and I’d say the integrity of them is better than decent. I’m definitely not saying that is an original confederate revolver. I am saying not to base your opinion on the condition of it, rather be specific when looking over the manufacturer’s details.

    Post Christmas limbo hunt

The reality of returning to work compelled me to get out for a walk yesterday in hopes, but under no delusions of grabbing some game this late in the season. I was pleasantly surprised! Usually the squirrels are well hidden this time of year until spring, but they were all out and about. I...

    Confederate gunpowder

I had read on more than one occasion; that the gunpowder produced towards the end of the CW at Augusta Powder Works was a far superior powder than anything being produced by the federals. Some might argue this given the problems with arty shell fuses at Gettysburg. My question is; is...

Has anyone here successfully barked a squirrel?

I barked a squirrel one time when I was a little kid. I wasn’t squirrel hunting at all. I was in a deer stand about 15 feet off the ground. A squirrel kept climbing up my ladder stand and messing with me. Kept making me give myself away by kicking and yelling obscenities at him. He did this...

    Lead balls have casting imperfections

In the 17th century, they didn’t even cut the sprew off the ball. They left it on the base as a platform to tie the paper cartridge to.

    Help! with cleaning my musket

I use a teapot filled with boiling soapy water, it’s easy to pour down the barrel with the spout. Toothpick in the touchole . Once the barrel is full of soap water, I point the muzzle up and pull the toothpick to let the water flush out the touchole. Do that a few times to wash out the barrel...

Lyman Plains Rifle -A stuck ball and grease

That’s one way to do it. Had you ever thought of using a ball puller and putting your ramrod in a vice to pull it out? I welded a large wood screw on the end of and iron rod to pull mine when it’s so stuck that the regular ball puller blows through from trying too many times.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got a little hunting in this morning. It was raining so I opted for a percussion… Onc the rain finally let up the woods started moving. My wife says I’m letting too many deer walk so I took a little eight point so she’d be happy. It was a bout a 65-70 yard shot. Smacked him hard but he...

what to lube my shotgun wads with?

I heat up crisco in a pan and let my wads soak up the hot grease. Take them out and let them dip dry. Once it cools down the wads aren’t oily to the touch but are saturated enough that makes for ease of loading.

    CLOSED .648 Round ball mold

Hey bud. I’ve been looking for the same mold for some time now. I shoot them in my fowler. I’m about to get Larry Callahan to make one for me. I bought one of his bag molds before. They are hand made, light, and of high quality. He’ll make any caliber you like out to 3 decibels. You can...
