.32 CVA Squirrel rifle hooked breach plug

I have made such a animal for my CVA mountain rifle. I had a as new Lyman GPR barrel and I made a CVA type breach plug and fitted a drum to it. Worked out fine and still use it today. Maybe a custom made one would work for you. Is the barrel still good?

    CVA Plainsman

Guys The breach he is showing us is a different barrel. Notice no rust and it's in the white. Someone must have tried to unscrew the breach plug and it broke off.

    Making percussion caps

The role caps don't work so good anyway. Just too much paper is trying to blow through that tiny vent hole. You can do away with the paper if you harvest the dots off the role. I used to do that and used 12 dots in the cups.As many as 15 sometimes. It all worked ok but the prime-all and the...

2024 cap update, bad and the bad

To answer a question about the brass I use. I ordered .005 36 gauge soft brass . A 10"x30" sheet and it could make about 1200 cups. Works perfectly on my revolvers .No fragment and no cap jams after 100 shots. Nothing done to the revolvers. They just puff out a little and stay on the nipples...

2024 cap update, bad and the bad

Beardedgunsmit is reminding us that there is a way forward by making your own. His way with the printer cups are working . For myself I use a die made by 22 reloader. I use either double wall pop cans or brass sheet for the cups. There are real primer mixes that work. I have made my own caps...

    How i make my caps

Looks like you are on to something. For myself I could not work that fast to do that many before it all dried out. Alcohol dries fast and so will the duco cement.. What's the cost of the resin to make the cups?

Tap- o- cap style musket cap tool question

Ok It happens Are you sure you want a formula that uses glass? It gave it a try once and never again. You can feel that glass grit and it's on everything. The glass does nothing for you. The FA-42 will do all you can want.

Tap- o- cap style musket cap tool question

If you have the needed skills ,there are plans available to make your own. I don't know of anybody making and selling the Musket size die. It would be nice though.

    DIY Caps Question

For those who don't have the primer trays, the plastic 22rf racks that hold 50 or 100 rounds will serve . Glued or taped to a hunk of wood or cardboard they are handy. Just the thing to hold the cups if you spray. I do use the brass but only for the revolvers. The double wall pop cans work well...

    DIY Caps Question

Nobade Did you make your own musket cap die? I have started making one but I'm half way done and there it sits. No drive to finish it. Fireworks supply houses are a good way to get the supplies. If you don't already have a die to make percussion caps ,get the 22 reloader die set. It's not...

    Cap Priming Compound

Nobade and anyone that is interested. I used K&S Soft Brass Stock No 6010 36 gauge 12" X 30". That's 360 square inches and could make as many as 1440 cups. I had to use a little paste wax on the side that becomes the inside of the cup.The formed cups didn't want to come off of the post in the...

    Cap Priming Compound

I use a cut in half red plastic toy cap gun cap Usually found in ring s for toy revolvers. Glued to a matchstick. Half size for sidelock rifles and 1/3 size for the revolvers. I have found that too much power in the revolvers fragment the cup leading to a lot of problems. .005 36ga brass is...
