    I believe you are correct. this p-1839 has a replacement lock that was done in 1860. The p-1839 came with a keyed barrel. I’m also kinda new.

    So what this musket turned out to be was a 1839 pattern 1st type with a Hanoverian latch that had its lock plate replaced and was reconditioned in 1860 by Barnett, through S.
