    Double.45 questions

Thanks for your reply. We can hunt but with only one barrel loaded at a time. Would this be a different kind of walnut? My other guns with walnut seem to be black lines on more of tan colors. This is very brown to almost a reddish tinge.

    Double.45 questions

Hello all. I am wondering if someone here would have some insight on my double rifle. One barrel is marked Douglas and they appear matched. 45 cal with slow round ball twist. I wonder if the carving and shape follows any particular school or style. Any idea what wood this is? It is this...

Not totally muzzleloading but will be used for that. Don made me this walking stick with shooting rest. All that braided work took some time.😊

    Great Plains Hunter Target Rifles?

I’m following this as I’m also trying to get my.54 GPH lined out for longer range. So far I have got the 535 grain no excuses bullet working well at 100 yards. Currently hunting season is interrupting further progress. I think my eyes need different sights for better progress so far

    Wads

Tried the felt wads today pictured at 50 yds. Then put 6 into six inch group all in the 8 inch black of this target. Now we’re getting somewhere. I think my wads were more like grease cookies double thickness of the felt or more.😳 A bit too much I think. I will remelt my disc of felts and pull...

    Wads

Thanks for the info everyone. Sounds like the felt wads are worth a try. If work then I will check into the more economical options. Sorry that I was cryptic in describing rifle, its easy to automatically think of the GPR as it is most common.

    Wads

Even with the fast twist of the hunter? Round ball would have to be a light load I believe. I am looking for extending my killing range for Elk. I do have a GPR that I have used for a couple of years for deer and am confident would work for elk. But I am trying to get a few more yards. I am...

    Wads

Hello all. My question is about wad under bullet in my GPH 54 cal. I have been less than satisfied with the accuracy of no excuses 525 grain bullets, and also REAL 300 grainers. I thought I was getting some improvement with a cardboard under the bullet so thought I would try a fiber wad...
